Trainer Mark Hanson's Clean Sweep Includes Bitterroot Futurity and Derby on Saturday

IDAHO FALLS, ID—JUNE 25, 2016—Trainer Mark Hanson saddled four winners on Sandy Downs race card Saturday afternoon, including the $118,804 Bitterroot Futurity, $38,307 Bitterroot Derby, $10,000 Bitterroot Consolation and the $3,850 Giltner Trucking-Idabet Derby.

Long Lost Buddy Scores Bitterroot Futurity Win

Second fastest qualifier Long Lost Buddy turned the tables on fastest qualifier Mahoney N Tacklebery when he got up by a neck at the wire in the $118,804 Bitterroot Futurity at Sandy Downs. Jb Corona Heart finished three-quarters back in third.

Uriel Dominguez rode the Mark Hanson trainee over the 350 yards in :17.380 seconds, a 110 speed index into a 5 mph crosswind. It was the third consecutive win and second stakes win for the son of leading second crop sire Favorite Cartel.

Owned by RTM Stables, LLC, Ben McKinney and Richard Gardner, Long Lost Buddy won the Rocky Mountain Spring Classic Futurity at Pocatello Downs in May. The $47,522 Bitterroot winner's purse boosted his career mark to $57,437.

Steve D. Burns, DVM, bred the $28,000 Heritage Place September Yearling Sale graduate in California from the Corona Cartel mare Remember The Cartel.

Also by Favorite Cartel, Mahoney N Tacklebery earned $23,761 for owner Ben Peterson. Riley Moosman conditions the gelding out of Fountain Blue, by Jess Louisiana Blue. Jesus Valenzuela rode the Spencer Peterson Utah-bred.

Hanson also trains third place finisher Jb Corona Heart for RTM Stables LLC and Ben McKinney. McKinney and Jim Hanson bred the Lovin This Corona gelding in Utah from the Sixes Royal mare Pearl Heart. Nakia Ramirez was aboard to earn $11,880 for the effort.

Bannister, A Cartel Hustle, Doctor Fantastic, One Sweet Fool, Movin The Doe, Makinproudmoves and Bos On Time completed the field.

Magic Moment Blues Gets First Stakes Win In Bitterroot Derby

Royally bred fastest qualifier Magic Moment Blues dueled best late to defeat stablemate Coronas Fast Game by a neck in the $38,307 Bitterroot Derby at Sandy Downs Saturday night. Zoomin For Spuds finished neck back in the blanket finish to take third.

Under jockey Nakia Ramirez, Magic Moment Blues completed the 400 yards in :19.449 seconds, a 109 speed index with a 5 mph crosswind. The $15,323 winner's purse bring the half-brother to world champion Blues Girl Too earnings total to $46,122.

Mark Hanson saddled the four-time winner for owners RTM Stables, LLC, Robin Dunn and Larry Chapple. Lucky Seven Ranch bred the Carters Cartel gelding in Oklahoma from the Sixarun mare Run The Dash.

Also trained by Hanson, the multiple stakes-placed Coronas Fast Dash races for owners RTM Stables, LLC and Ben McKinney. Bred in Louisiana by Bobby Cox, the son of Coronas Fast Dash is out of Game Snowlady, by Game Patriot. Ridden by Uriel Dominguez the brown gelding earned $7,661.

Monty Arrossa trains third place finisher Zoomin For Spuds for owner/breeder Jim Walker. The multiple stakes winning Idaho-bred son of Zoomin For Bux picked up $3,831 to bring his career mark to $84,793. Tony Guymon was aboard the chestnut out of A Perfect Cocktail, by Corona Cocktail.

Rtm Moonshine, First Prize Chicks, Love To Reason, Wait, Dk Rays Runaway, Sweet Sweet Love and Bugs Wagon completed the field.

Nightly Fire, an Oklahoma-bred son of leading sire Walk Thru Fire, defeated Paint A Candy Storm by a head in the $10,000 Bitterroot Futurity Consolation (not black type). He covered the 350 yards in :17.561 seconds, a 105 speed index with a 5 mph crosswind.

Mark Hanson saddled the winner for owners RTM Stables LLC and George Weldon. Ridden by Uriel Dominguez the gelding earned $4,000 for the effort.

The Ivory James filly completed the 350 yards in :17.713 seconds, a 101 speed index with a 5 mph crosswind to pickup the winner's check worth $2,310. 2l Racing bred the brown filly in Oklahoma from the Special Depth mare Rg Special. Mark Hanson is the trainer.
