RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM—JUNE 25, 2016—Triple K Farms’ Daring And Dashing pulled out in the stretch to take the $20,000 Tricky Dust Handicap over 870 yards on a wet Saturday afternoon at Ruidoso Downs.

The Tanner Thedford-ridden Daring And Dashing was timed in :46.036 over a sloppy track as the 11-10 choice. The $12,000 winner's purse boosted the gelding's earnings total to more than $52,000.

Morning-line favorite Alsono was scratched.

Cjs Rocksolid was one-and-one-quarter lengths behind in second while Ocean Smoke finished third, another three quarters of a length behind.

Thedford quickly got Daring And Dashing into the race. They dueled on the front with Ocean Smoke while Cjs Rocksolid raced along the rail on the wettest portion of the track. Daring And Dashing asserted himself through the stretch while Cjs Rocksolid ran well to finish second.

Daring And Dashing scored his first stakes win in his 17th career start. The Judd Kearl-trained gelding came off a third-place run as the 11-10 favorite in the Remington Park Distance Challenge. He was a close second in the 550-yard Harris County 550 Stakes at Sam Houston Race Park back in March.

James Markum bred the son of all-time leading sire First Down Dash in Texas from the Mr Jess Perry mare Splendifferous.

Rockin J Running Horses’ homebred Cjs Rocksolid was third in the $50,000 Remington Park Distance Handicap in his previous starts. The Tammy Kay Johnson-trained Rock Solid Jess gelding was a close second in the $150,000 AQHA Challenge Distance Championship last fall at Lone Star Park. Out of The Signature mare Sultry Miss, Cjs Rocksolid picked up $4,400 for the effort to bring his earnings to $208,064.

Ocean Smoke won two consecutive races in his first two starts at 870 yards before being well beaten in the SunRay Park Marathon, his latest start. Tony Sedillo trains the son of Ocean Runaway out of Smokin (TB), by Smoke Glacken for Diamond P Ranch and IRR Trust. Bred by Robert Gentry, the gray gelding has pushed his earnings to $63,734 after pocketing $2,000 for third.

Smokn On Bye, Master Time and Cr Tuckernuck completed the field. Alsono and Kingsbury were both scratched.
