At $260K, Jet Black Grace Headlines Day 2 of Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale

At $260K, Jet Black Grace Headlines Day 2 of Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK-JANUARY 19, 2024–The second session of the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale was highlighted by the Grade 1 Heritage Place Futurity winner Jet Black Grace selling to Soilo Enrique Alvarez Fonseca for $260,000. The 5-year-old Jet Black Patriot gelding, consigned by Dunn Ranch, Agent, sold as Hip 634.

Jet Black Grace has won seven of 11 career starts while earning $748,127. He also won the Lovington Stakes(G2) and B.F. Phillips Jr. Stakes.

"Great second day for the 2024 Winter Mixed Sale.  The horses sold average for day two was up 8% compared to the same day last year and 86% of the horses offered today were marked sold," Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said late Friday. "The overall two-day day average, $22,458, is an increase of 4% over 2023."

"We had a very large crowd on hand, and we look forward to a good catalog for the final day Saturday," he added.

For the two sessions Heritage Place reports 442 horse sold of the 531 to go under the hammer for gross receipts totaled $9,926,500 compared with 475 head sold for $10,405,100 in the first two sessions a year ago. The two-session average of $22,458 was up 4% over $21,05 for the same day last year. The median of $13,000 for two sessions this year is compared to $14,000 after two sessions in 2023.

M4 Legacy Spend Thrift Trust Darrell Roland paid $255,000 for Friday's second high-seller, Hip 373 One Fine V. Marty Powers, Agent consigned the Firecracker Futurity(G2) winner by One Famous Eagle from the Corona Cartel mare Sera Fina.

Marty Powers, Agent for Shaun Hubbard consigned Friday's third high-seller Hip 599 Ray Yeigh, a 4-year-old son of leading sire Favorite Cartel. Samuel and Elizabeth Mendoza paid $140,000 for the Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity(G1) finalist out of Tac Out by Check Him Out.

Soilo Enrique Alvarez Fonseca is the leading buyer after two sessions with two purchases totaling $337,000. M4 Legacy Spend Thrift Trust Darrell Roland has three purchases for $331,000 and Horton Racing LLC paid $230,000 for two head.

Lazy E Ranch, Agent is the leading consignor or agent through two sessions with 51 head grossing $1,377,900. Marty Powers, Agent sold 32 head for $1,024,700 and Dunn Ranch, Agent had 17 head total $803,700. Dunn Ranch sold another 16 head totaling $380,400.

Flying Cowboy 123 is the leading covering sire (by average, two or more sold), through two sessions with six in-foal mares for a $55,500 average. Cyber Monday has five in-foal mares for $34,000 and Gold Heart Eagle V has a $33,875 average for four in-foal mares sold.

Flying Cowboy 123 is also the leading short-yearling sire (by average, two or more sold), through two sessions with two head averaging $85,000. Favorite Cartel has two head for $54,000 and Freighttrain B has average $46,333 on three head sold.
