Madresita Brings Top Bid as Heritage Place Opens 38th Annual Winter Mixed Sale

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JANUARY 21, 2016— Madresita, a multiple stakes winning daughter of Pappasito, was the high-seller Thursday afternoon as Heritage Place kicked off their annual Winter Mixed Sale in Oklahoma City.

Butch and Stephanie Webb purchased the 6-year-old earner of $113,811 from the Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Rodney Verret consignment fro $71,000. Out of the champion mare Mongoose Jet Eye, she was not bred to carry a foal in 2016.

"All things considered with the stock market and oil prices, we had a successful sale today," Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said Thursday evening.

The opening day saw 237 head of the 268 offers sole for a $2,469,453 gross and $10,420 average. The median was $6,000. There were 42 horses withdrawn and 27 repurchases.

"The average is off approximately 15% from the first day last year and we sold 89% of the horses offered," Kidney said. "We had an outstanding crowd today and have a great catalog of horses for the next two days," he added.

Two mares, First Lady Amber and Icy Valentine, each brought a bid of $60,000 to tie for the second high-sellers on Day 1.

Blessed River Ltd. purchased First Lady Amber, a G1 producing daughter of Heza Fast Man, from Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent. She was not bred to carry a foal in 2016.

Homer Hill bought Icy Valentine, a daughter of leading sire Mr Jess Perry, for $60,000 from the Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Terry Bell Farms Dispersal. She was not bred to carry a foal in 2016.

Rafter W Stables/Ray Willis was the leading buyer on day one with two purchases totaling $97,000. Homer Hill had two for $95,000 and Darling Farms paid $90,700 for six head.

Lazy E Ranch, LLC, Agent for Terry Bell Farms Dispersal was the leading consignor from day one with 15 head totaling $378,900. Lazy E Ranch, LLC, had another 20 head for $275,600 and Marty Powers Agent sold 16 head for $146,000.

Mr Jess Perry was the leading sale sire of short yearlings (by average with two or more sold) with three head averaging $30,000. First Down Dash had two for $24,750 and Valiant Hero had three head average $21,000.

Valiant Hero led covering sires on the opening day (by average with two or more sold) with two in-foal mares averaging $44,000. Louisiana Senator had four in-foal mares average $19,000 and Stoli had two in-foal mares for $12,750 .

Friday's second session kicks off promptly at 10:00 a.m. (CST) and will offer Hips 307 thru 614. Saturday's final session will offer Hips 615 thru 917.
