Cm Once Ina Bluemoon Punches Tickets To Albuquerque, Wins BOA Emerald Downs Challenge

AUBURN, WA—AUGUST 22, 2021—Bumped at the start under jockey James Wooten, Jr., Cm Once Ina Bluemoon (23-1) drew off from the field Sunday to defeat stable mate and post time favorite Cm Boom Shakalaka by 1-˝ lengths in the $48,994 Bank Of America Emerald Downs Championship Challenge at Emerald Downs.

Cm Once Ina Bluemoon completed the 440 yards in :22.20 seconds, into a 5 mph crosswind, to take home the winner's purse valued at $23,027.

Trainer Nick Lowe saddled the son of Ivory James to his15th career win for owner Chris Sutton. Bred in Oregon by Randy Dickerson, from the Jess Louisiana Blue mare Cool Blue Corona, Cm Once Ina Bluemoon has earned $132,143.

The win also earned Cm Once Ina Bluemoon a berth in the October 23rd $250,000 Bank of America Challenge Championship(G1) to be contested during the Bank of America Challenge Championships at The Downs in Albuquerque on October 27th.

Stable mate Cm Boom Shakalaka boosted his earning to $198,235 after pocketing $9,799 for second. The 6-year-old son of Carters Cartel enjoys the same Lowe-Sutton, trainer-owner team but had jockey Luis Gonzalez riding. Randy Dickerson bred Cm Boom Shakalaka from the Dash Ta Fame mare Mi Fames A Dandy.

K and R Allred Ranch LLC's Arizona Favorite finished a head back to earn $4,899 for third. Hector Magallanes trains the Favorite Cartel 5-year-old out of Check Her For Cash by Check Him Out. Jaime Lopez had the riding call aboard the Kevin and Robin Allred Arizona-bred gelding. He has $74,050.

L Bar D Genuine Red, Dr Tool, Sables Dashin, Df Storm Tales, Lidonna and Thrill Of The Cartel completed the field.
