ALBUQUERQUE, NM—JULY 24, 2016—Alejandro Arzabala Jr.’s Streakin Zoomer, a 7-year-old stallion by Shazoom and the fastest qualifier, earned his third career stakes victory in Sunday’s Grade 3, $58,680 Zoetis Albuquerque Distance Challenge Stakes at Albuquerque Downs.
Trained by Martin Orona Sr. and ridden by Alejandro Medellin, Streakin Zoomer covered 870 yards in :44.173, earning a 105 speed index and missing by just one-tenth of a second the track record set by Kama Shootin in an allowance race on September 17, 2001. The stallion’s winning margin was 1 1/2 lengths from a fast-closing CJs Rocksolid.
Streakin Zoomer was coming off of a wire-to-wire, 4 1/2-length victory in the second of two trials on July 9. He was bred in Louisiana by J.E. III, C.T. and D.C. Jumonville and was acquired by Arzabala for $13,000 at the Heritage Place January Mixed Sale in Oklahoma City. He is out of the Streakin La Jolla mare A Streakin Mate.
