OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—APRIL 5, 2021—Forty-three 2-year-olds, headed by the undefeated Smithworks, are entered in Friday’s 350-yard PSBA American Paint Classic Futurity trials at Remington Park.
A sorrel son of Painted Turnpike racing for Bryan L. Hawk, Smithworks has won both of his starts and has earned $77,848. The Oklahoma-bred gelding will be stretching out in distance off of his half-length victory as the fastest qualifier in the 300-yard, $196,100 Oklahoma Paint and Appaloosa Futurity (G1) on March 20.
Smithworks drew the rail post and will be ridden by Cody R. Smith for trainer Matt Whitekiller in the third of five trials.
Painted Faith Racing’s PFR Snowpike drew the rail post and will be ridden by Juan Pulido for trainer Dee Keener in the fifth heat. A sorrel daughter of Painted Turnpike, the filly made her debut with a head victory in an Oklahoma Paint and Appaloosa Futurity trial but failed to make the final.
The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the April 24, $150,000-est. PSBA American Paint Classic Futurity final.
