Fastest qualifier Premier Ethics heads a full field in Saturday’s 400-yard Sunshine State Derby for accredited Florida-breds at Hialeah Park.

HIALEAH, FL—FEBRUARY 28, 2015—Fastest qualifier Premier Ethics drew post 10 for today's (Saturday) 400-yard, $61,050 Sunshine State Derby (R) for accredited Florida-bred sophomores at Hialeah Park. (see related story.)

A sorrel daughter of the Mr Jess Perry stallion Ethics Aside, Premier Ethics races for Renata Lopez from the barn of trainer Rogelio Martinez. The filly won all three of her starts, including the second of two trials on February 7, and she has earned $26,520.

Jose Ruiz has been named to ride Premier Ethics in the Sunshine State Derby final.

Crown Racing’s Thrilling Finish, a stakes-placed filly by Streakin Six Cartel and a $6,250 claim during the Lone Star Park fall meet, drew post 7 and will be ridden by Luis Guerrero. The fifth-fastest qualifier and winner of the other trial heat, Thrilling Finish has banked $12,606 from seven outs, and her record includes a second-place finish in last year’s North Dakota Horse Park Futurity.

Also on Saturday, WRS Quick Regards is one of eight 3-year-olds entered in the 440-yard, $30,000 South Florida Stakes.

A gelded son of Chicks Regard, WRS Quick Regards is owned by Rancho Los Dos Potrillos LLC and trained by Mario Sanchez. WRS Quick Regards is coming off of a 2-year-old season in which he ran second, a half of a length behind stablemate WRS Secret Dream, in the 350-yard, $153,000 Jim Bader Futurity (R) for Iowa-breds at Prairie Meadows.

Kathleen Matey’s Pyro, a graded stakes placed homebred 5-year-old gelding by Make It Anywhere, drew post 2 for Saturday’s 440-yard, $25,000 Miami-Dade County Stakes.

Trained by Judd Kearl, Pyro ran second, one length behind winner Mesa Marvel, in the 440-yard, $30,000 Sawgrass Stakes at Hialeah Park on February 7. The gelding’s race record includes a second-place finish, 1 1/4 lengths behind winner Dash Master Jess, in last year’s 440-yard, $112,000 Bank of America Sam Houston Championship Challenge (G2).

Rodrigo Vallejo has been named to ride Pyro in the Miami-Dade County Stakes.
