Black Gold 400 Futurity Trials Draw 66 Entries

ALBUQUERQUE, NM—SEPTEMBER 20, 2014—A total of 66 2-year-olds, including Cartel Rosie, Vod Kanockers, and Notavailableinstores, has been entered in Sunday’s Black Gold 400 Futurity (R) trials at Will Rogers Downs.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will meet in the $150,000-added Black Gold 400 Futurity final on Sunday, October 5.

Cartel Rosie is a brown daughter of Carters Cartel racing for Gary Hess and trained by Brian Muse. The filly has earned $48,814 from six starts, and her four wins include a head victory at odds of 18-1 in the 350-yard, $100,000 Heritage Place Juvenile Invitational Stakes at Remington Park on May 31.

Cartel Rosie will be ridden by Daniel Torres from post 6 in the third of nine 400-yard trials.

A gelding by Stoli owned by Philip R. Brassfield and conditioned by Ty Blackwell, Vod Kanockers will be ridden by G.R. Carter Jr. from the rail post in the eighth trial. Vod Kanockers has won four of six outs, including the 350-yard, $50,000 Easy Jet Stakes (R) for Oklahoma-breds at Remington Park on June 1, and he has banked $52,317.

Notavailableinstores was a finalist in the May 31, $1.02-million Heritage Place Futurity (G1) at Remington Park for his owner, Valeriano Racing Stables LLC. Trained by Eddie D. Willis, the gelded son of One Famous Eagle is the 2-1 morning-line favorite in the seventh heat, and he will be ridden by Jimmy D. Brooks from post 4.
