World Champion Leads Field To Go Man Go Handicap On Saturday

LOS ALAMITOS, CA—SEPTEMBER 20, 2014—World Champion Last To Fire will look to defend his Go Man Go Handicap crown when he leads a tremendous field of Quarter Horses in this year’s running of the 400-yard event.

Owned by Jesus Avila and Jesus Cuevas, Last To Fire was superb in winning last year’s Go Man Go by 1 3/4 lengths on the way to winning World Champion honors. The winner of the Go Man Go could receive a berth in the Champion of Champions in the event that one opens up later in the year.

To be ridden by Eduardo Nicasio and trained by Paul Jones, Last To Fire will be looking for his first win of the year. He was second in his trial to the Vessels Maturity, but had a very troubled trip when finishing eighth in the Grade 1 Vessels final. Last To Fire will start from the outside post number 10.

Atwood Ranches and Vessels Stallion Farm’s Far Niente was an impressive 3/4 length winner in the Vessels Maturity. The effort earned him a berth to the Champion of Champions and his ninth win in 14 career starts. Jose Hernandez Jr. will saddle the son of FDD Dynasty, who’ll be ridden by Saul Ramirez Jr.

J. Garvan Kelly, Nancy Yearsley and Vinewood Farms’ Bon Accord also owns a berth to the Champion of Champions. He earned his by winning the Remington Park Championship in Oklahoma back on May 31. Resting since that impressive outing, the Shazoom gelding will have his sights set on scoring his biggest win ever at Los Alamitos. Juan Aleman will saddle Bon Accord with Cesar De Alba aboard.

The field will also feature Bank of America California Championship winner New Look, Spencer Childers California Breeders Championship Handicap winner Once Over and 2013 All American Derby winner Feature Hero. Jess Being Valiant, Snowboundbeast, Jess Featureme Quick and Seperate Interest will complete the field.
