VINTON, LA—MAY 14, 2013—Cynthia Allen's Secrets Fly will hope to step forward Saturday when he faces a full field in the $77,345 Old South Futurity at Delta Downs. The 2-year-old gelding comes into the race off a 1-¼ length trial victory when he posted the fastest qualifying time in :16.543 seconds for the 300 yards.
Vann Haywood conditions the winner of two of three starts this season while earning $15,878. His only off-the-board performance came in the $192,000 Harrah's Entertainment Futurity(G3) final on March 23 when he finished sixth.
Jovetta Meredith bred the son of All American Futurity winner No Secrets Here in Oklahoma from the Strawfly Special mare Once Upon A Fly. Regular rider Bobby Ransom is expected to be back in the saddle.
Secrets Fly's toughest competition could come from Harrah's Entertainment Futurity(G3) runner-up A Noble Jess Elie who posted a one-length win and the second fastest trial time of :16.714. Kenneth Roberts, Sr. conditions the homebred for Mercy Hinklin's Horse Farm.
The Texas bred 2-year-old is sired by Jess Elie from the Tres Seis mare Legendary Seis. Jesse Chavis will be aboard the sorrel miss with a 1-2-0 record in three starts and earnings of $37,265.
Third place finisher in the Harrah's Entertainment Futurity, Imkeepingscore, will start for owner Amaro Brothers Racing and trainer Robert Meche. The First Down Dash colt is still a maiden but has a 0-2-1 record in three starts and earnings of $21,256. He finished second to A Noble Jess Elie in the trials to get the eighth fastest clocking of :16.902. Kirk Goodfellow bred the colt in Texas from the Special Effort mare My Special Phoebe.
Additional qualifiers expected to start are Mamou Grace, Ms Kalies Fortune, Jess Shazoom Yall, Wrs Quick Cat, WonFor You, Wrs Hava Chic and Ijs Chick.
Old South Derby Preview
South Florida Invitational winner I See Visions will be looking for this third consecutive win Friday night when he faces a full field in the $44,807 Old South Derby at Delta Downs.

The Donald Ming homebred returned to the Bayou State where he finished fifth in the $190,000 Evangeline Downs Futurity on December 15. The sorrel has won five of his 10 career starts while earning $43,120. He is out of the Dash For Cash mare Vision Of Dash.
Dash For Cash Futurity(G1) runner-up Fdd Going Grand finished a neck off I See Visions in the trials to post the second fastest qualifying time of :19.612. Kenneth Roberts, Sr. conditions the two-time winner for owner/breeder Mercy Hinklin's Horse Farm, LLC.
The son of champion FDD Dynasty is the field's leading money earner with $93,076, most of that coming in the Dash For Cash at Lone Star last October when he was moved from third to second after winner Prince Valleyant was disqualified. Fdd Going Grand is out of the Corona Cartel mare Cash Cartel.
South Florida Derby runner-up, Hey List, squeaked into the finals with the eighth fastest clocking after breaking slow and finishing sixth in the April 26 trials. The Carters Cartel colt was also a finalist in the Hialeah Laddie Futurity last December and has earned $65,322. Guadalupe Tristan will saddle for owner Horse Special Award Inc. Double Bar S Ranch, LLC bred Hey List in California from the Strawfly Special mare Shes A Strawfly.
Completing the field are Jessflybayou, Secret Cash Stash, Ttt Kellys Walker, Potrofino, Hot Hitting, Jet Black Legend and Shazo
