LOS ALAMITOS, CA—MAY 11, 2013—La Primera Del Ano Derby runner-up Feature Malinche, two-time graded stakes finalists Joy Roses Eagle and Watch Linda Ballet and major derby finalists Buy By and Forgotten Dynasty are among the eight sophomore fillies that will compete tonight (Saturday) in the $25,000 La Pacifica Handicap at Los Alamitos. The 350-yard event is scheduled as the ninth race on the card. First post time is 6 p.m.

Trained by Guillermo Morales for Javier Molina, Feature Malinche returns to action after an impressive second place finish in the $200,000 La Primera final. The filly by Feature Mr Jess battled gamely with eventual winner Revv Me Up in the derby and just narrowly missed winning from along the rail at odds of 43-1. She’ll start from the outside post eight in the La Pacifica.

Gianni Samaja’s Joy Roses Eagle SA is the richest filly in the field with career earnings of $148,236. The daughter of One Famous Eagle was third in last year’s Ed Burke Million Futurity and also ran in the PCQHRA Breeders Futurity. Robert Williams’ Watch Linda Ballet has earned over $100,000 in her career while racing in the Ed Burke Million and Golden State Million futurities last year. In her only start of the year, the Mr Jess Perry filly was third in a La Primera trial.

Ron Hartley’s Forgotten Dynasty, who was fourth in the La Primera, and Grade 1 Los Alamitos Winter Derby finalist Buy Buy will be joined by Sassy Cartel, SFR Stuck On You and Jewel First Cat SA to complete the field.
