AJAX, ONT—JULY 20, 2014—Ajax Downs hosted three AQHA Racing Challenge races on Sunday's race card.

The $27,335(US) Adequan Ajax Derby Challenge was the top stakes with a $27,3335(US) purse. The John Deere Ajax Juvenile saw two-year-olds vie for $23,141(US) and in the AQHA Maiden Challenge had a purse of $25,124(US).

Zip Code Punches Ticket to BOA Championship Night

Zip Kode exploded late under jockey Chelsey Willick to catch Well Worth It by a neck at the wire in the $27,335(US) Adequan Ajax Derby Challenge on Sunday. Ivory Injun finished a head back in the show position.

Racing for Steve Hunter, Zip Code covered the 400 yards in :20.110 seconds to earn a 95 speed index and pickup the $12,573(US) winner's purse. The Bigtime Favorite filly also earned a starting spot in the $200,000 Guaranteed Adequan Derby Challenge Championship(G3) at Prairie Meadows on October 18.

Trainer Janet Grice saddled the multiple stakes winner to her seventh win from 17 starts. Bobby D. Cox and John Buchanan bred the $76,677 earner in Texas from the Panther Mountain mare Fee Lion.

Well Worth It earned $5,467(US) for her second place effort. Anthony Cunningham conditions the daughter of leading sire Corona Cartel for the partnership of Michael Kurty, David Evans, James Barton and Edward Walsh. Mike Holmes was aboard the Double Bar S Ranch, LLC Oklahoma-bred from the First Down Dash mare Worth A Look.

Ivory Injun put in an impressive effort for owner Ivy Lane Racing and trainer Renee Wilson. Also bred by Bobby Cox, the Ivory James gelding was ridden by Daniel Rose. Out of the Invisible Injun mare Powerful Injun, Ivory Injun earned $2,733(US) for his effort.

Reckless An Wild, Shazoomin Rose, Streakinshagginwagon, Arctic Fame, Mr Eazy, Bold Six Love and Ivy Switch completed the field.

Jumping Guitar Runs Off With John Deere Juvenile
It was compete runaway in the John Deere Ajax Juvenile Challenge as jockey Helen Vanek broke on top under Jumping Guitar and extended her lead throughout to win going away by 1¾ lengths. The Tac It Like a Man filly completed the 350 yards in :17.970 seconds to pocket the winning purse valued at $10,644(US).

Owned-and-trained by Nadia Marcoux, the win also garnered Jumping Guitar a starting spot in the $200,000 Guaranteed John Deere Juvenile Challenge Championship(G2) on Bank of America Challenge Championship Night, October 18th at Prairie Meadows.

Just two races back Jumping Guitar was racing for a claiming tag in Oklahoma. A. Roche and M. & S. Kreins bred the bay miss from the Corona Cartel mare Shine My Guitar.

Fortune Pending was a game second for owners Richard Wincikaby and DK Training Centre. Kim Ito saddled the lightly raced Wave Carver gelding with Brian Bell getting the riding assignment. Eaves Horses Family Ltd. Partnership bred the gray in Texas from the champion producing Six Fortunes mare Fortune Of Delight. He earned $4,628(US) for the effort.

Another link back Speed Of Life finished third for owner/breeder Gary McNichol. David Ward conditions the Ontario bred daughter of Chicks Regard out of Time To Splash Bac, by Splash Bac. Ridden by Cory Spataro she earned $2,3314(US).

Cause Im Dancing, Obessedwithbeduino, Saving Sandy Home, Wild Boyz Victory and Hot Harvest Moon completed the field. Corona Straw and Ramble On Corona were both scratched.

Lexia Prevails In AQHA Maiden Challenge

Ridden by Brian Bell, Lexia would not be denied while breaking her maiden in the $25,124(US) AQHA Maiden Challenge Sunday afternoon at Ajax Downs. The royally-bred daughter of second crop sire Foose, from the champion First Down Dash mare Alice K White, completed the 350 yards in :17.700, earning a 98 speed index. The first place check was worth $11,557(US).

Kim Ito conditions the 3-year-old filly for Richard Wincikaby and DK Training Centre. MJ Farms bred the $17,016 earner in New Mexico.

Renee Wilson's owned-and-trained Mr Victory Six finished a neck back to earn $5,025(US). Barry Thompson bred the Tres Seis gelding in Texas from the Special Leader mare Judinell Jo. Daniel Rose had the riding call.

Pattie Marshall's Bb Milliondollarbaby finished three-quarters back in the show position. Saddled by Anthony Cunningham and ridden by Brittany Vanden Berg, the Valiant Hero filly earned $2,513(US) for her effort. Sally Box bred the black 4-year-old in Texas from the Stoli mare S-toli N Me.

Shadasha, Runaway, Lil Shaz and Dontellmemybusiness completed the field. Cantcatchthissecret, Ms Kool O Toole and Streakinlilsis were each scratched.
