Eye Agree Breaks Maiden, Posts Top Bank of America Sam Houston Challenge Time

HOUSTON, TX—APRIL 24, 2014—The lightly race Eye Agree broke her maiden Thursday evening while setting the top qualifying time for the Bank of America Sam Houston Challenge at Sam Houston Race Park.

The 10 fastest qualifiers, from the three trial races contested, return to the Houston, Texas racetrack on Friday, May 10 and vie for the winner's portion of an $18,000-added purse at 350 yards for Challenge enrolled maidens at time of nomination.

Under jockey Santos Carrizales Eye Agree bobbled the start but recovered quickly to put in a strong drive to defeat Drinkin Champaign by a one-length. The :17.904 clocking into an 8 mph headwind was the fastest time from the 25 trial starters.

L.R. "Tooter" Jordan saddled the Mr Eye Opener filly out of the champion First Down Dash mare Tiny First Effort. Owned by Mark E. Rigby, DVM, the sorrel miss picked up her first win four career starts. The Fast Lane Partnership is the breeder.

Trainer Guy Hopkins saddled Paintedinoil to his first win seven career starts in the second trial (Race 3). The Pyc Paint Your Wagon gelding came into the race off a sharp second place effort in the $77,100 Sam Houston Maiden Stakes on April 5. Jose Alvarez was aboard the 3-year-old for owner Michael Amburn. Jovetta Meredith bred Paintedinoil in Oklahoma from the Strawfly Special mare Once Upon A Fly.
