Giorgino Speeds Away In $178,646 Sunland Park Winter Quarter Horse Futurity(G2)

SUNLAND PARK, NM—DECEMBER 25, 2010—Giorgino rocketed away from the gates and rolled to a half-length victory in the Grade 2 $178,646 Sunland Park Winter Quarter Horse Futurity at 400 yards.

The two-year-old Apollo TB colt responded eagerly to Hall of Fame jockey Jacky Martin and opened up a good lead early while racing on the rail. Giorgino switched gears and kept up a solid speed to keep the fast closing Docs Famous Dash at bay.

He sped through the distance in a fast 19.180 seconds, good for a 92 speed index.
