CLAREMORE, OK—SEPTEMBER 5, 2010—Shaznasty, a home-bred racing for Teichgraeber Ranch LLC, broke her maiden with a two-length victory in the Kansas Jackpot Futurity trials on Saturday at Will Rogers Downs.
The ten fastest qualifiers from four trials will return on September 18th and contest the 300 yard $100,000-est. final.
Saddled by Charley Hunt, the bay filly picked up her first win three starts while posting the time qualifying mark of :15.476 seconds. Champion jockey G.R. Carter, Jr rode the Shazoom filly to a 103 speed index.
Shazanasty was third in her first start at Remington Park on April 16th. She finished third in an August 13th futurity trial at Prairie Meadows, but was moved to second after being interfered with.
Kasey Willis saddled Radio Flyin to win the second trial by ¾ 's in a time of :15.594 seconds. Wayne Wood and Clarence Pruitt own the PYC Paint Your Wagon gelding who posted the second fastest clocking. Stormy Smith was in the irons.
Radio Flyin came into the trial off a third place effort in the Black Gold 300 Futurity final on July 18th at Fair Meadows. It is the only loss in five starts this season the gelding bred in Texas by Mike and Leslie Turner. He has earned more than $36,000.
