PRESCOTT VALLEY, AZ—SEPTEMBER 4, 2010—Mark Turner and Kim Melton's A Splash Of Hell set a new Yavapai Downs 440 yard track Saturday afternoon in the $15,000 Louis Curtis/Robert Kieckhefer Memorial Stakes.
Under jockey Fernando Gamez, the 5-year-old completed the 440 yard course in :21.024 seconds to earn a 118 speed index. The previous record of :21.052 was set August 14, 2005 by No Scrubs.
Saddled by Derek Couch, the Splash Bac horse broke alertly, dueled early before clearing the field midway to win by ¾'s .

Hawks Three Chicks came in at the start but finished well to take second for owner Xavier Velazquez Cruz. The Hawkinson 3-year-old is trained by Armando Castellanos. Ridden by Hector Aldrete the filly earned $3,000 for her effort.
Finishing a head back in third was Juan Clark's Hez The Don. The 4-year-old Heza Fast Man gelding was saddled by Dennis Marsteller and ridden by Don French. He picked up $1,950.
Completing the field were Kays Gunslinger, Affluent Flyer, No Sign Of Bono, Miss My Friend, Fantastic Righter and Fly Me High.
