Sheet Burns Catches Contradictions at Wire to Win Special Hank Stakes

ALBUQUERQUE, NM—AUGUST 29, 2010—After going three-wide on the turn, Sheet Burns rallied in the stretch to catch Contradictions at the wire in Sunday's $30,000 Special Hank Stakes at The Downs in Albuquerque.

The Regalado MacLovio owned 8-year-old completed the task in a very sharp :44.854 seconds to earn a 101 speed index.

Ramon Ronquillo saddled the Okey Dokey Dale gelding to earn $18,300. Noe Garcia was aboard for the winning ride. Don Hill bred Sheet Burns in Colorado from the Easy Jet mare Shes Alive And Easy.

Contradictions jumped out to an early lead but gave way at the wire and settled for second to earn $6,600 for owner Ramon Gonzalez, Jr. Andres Gonzalez trains the Windhams Winner 7-year-old with Jorge Bourdieu riding.

The Thoroughbred Prince Carson finished ¾'s back in third for owner/trainer Alberto Amparan. Picking up $3,600 for the effort, the Lord Carson-TB 6-year-old was ridden by Enrique Garcia.

Loves Bonus finished fourth and reigning AQHA Racing Distance champion Gone To The Mountain was scratched.
