VINTON, LA–APRIL 26, 2024–The first stakes race on Friday's card for opening night at Delta Downs was the $40,000 Open Me A Corona Stakes [RG2], held for Louisiana accredited bred three-year-old and up Quarter Horses.

Pk Pure Rogue, ridden by Everardo Rodriguez got a big break at the start with an early lead from wire-to-wire. He scored his second consecutive win this season by 1/2 a length in :15.243 seconds and clocked a 97 speed index. The four-year-old gelding’s 300-yard victory paid $9.40 to win on 7/2 odds.

Trainer Barbara Alcantara saddled the son of Heza Fast Rogue for owner Jose Rodriguez. Pk Pure Rogue has lit the board 15 of 20 starts with five wins but tonight’s victory was a first in stakes competition. The $24,000 winner’s share of the purse increased his lifetime earnings to $126,245.

Phatt Kat Ranch bred Pk Pure Rogue in Louisiana out of Kinky Boots by Agouti.

Dynasty Blood, piloted by Ricardo Hernandez Jr, drifted in from the nine hole for a game second by a neck over Tlc Willie Cartel. Trainer Jose Carrizales conditions the four-year-old daughter of Apollitical Blood.

Tonight was the first time Dynasty Blood has competed in stakes competition. The three-time winner owned by Alberto Salinas increased her bankroll to $60,183 after cashing in the $8,000 check for place. Dynasty Blood was bred in Louisiana by Bmaq Racing LLC out of the FDD Dynasty mare Shesa Dynasty.

Tlc Willie Cartel, under the guidance of David Alvarez, kept up speed but got hung at the wire for third. The three-year-old colt has two career wins with $60,084 in earnings.

Breeder Grant Farms sold Tlc Willie Cartel for $37,000 to his owner Dionicio Hernandez in the 2022 LQHBA Yearling Sale. The Louisiana Cartel colt trained by Jesus Marquez is out of First To Adore Perry by Mr Jess Perry.
