Wire Transfer Comes Out On Top For Second Career Victory In Oklahoma P&A Futurity [G1]

Wire Transfer Comes Out On Top For Second Career Victory In Oklahoma P&A Futurity [G1]

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK–March 23, 2024–Wire Transfer remains undefeated in two career starts after scoring the victory Saturday evening at Remington Park in the $202,700 Oklahoma Paint and Appaloosa Futurity [G1].

Ridden by L. Salvador Martinez, Wire Transfer gets into the lead at mid call and comes out on top at the wire by 1 1/4-lengths. The daughter of leading APHA sire CRM Livewire motored clear in :15.666 seconds clocking an 84 speed index against an 8 mph headwind. The 300-yard victory paid $18.60 to win on 8/1 odds.

Sal Martinez said, "She broke good, a lot better than the trials. When I asked her to run, left-handed, she gave me the race you saw. They showed her at 9/1 odds before the race, I thought she should be 2/1 and she ran that way.”

After winning her first out of the season, Wire Transfer clocked the second fastest time in the trials. The Oklahoma-bred filly’s $81,526 paycheck from the finals increases her lifetime earnings to $85,564.

This is the fifth Oklahoma P&A Futurity victory for trainer Matt Whitekiller who is now tied with the Legendary Lewis Wartchow. Whitekiller saddled Wire Transfer for owner/breeder Robin Haggard. The two-year-old paint filly is out of Miss Fly On Tac by Tac It Like A Man.

CRM Livewire’s owner Bryan Hawk remarked "I'm happy for Matt, Robin, everybody. We love each other. We win together and lose together. We just have a really good team."

Chief Iron Eagle (ApHC), with Edwin Escobedo in the irons, won the nod by a nose in a photo finish for second over Osc Is On Fire. The son of Gray Chief has yet to break his maiden from two starts and has $37,287 in career earnings.

Bred and owned by Jose Vicente Robles of Oklahoma, Chief Iron Eagle is out of Feature Lauren by Feature Mr Jess. He is conditioned by Luis Villafranco.

Jockey Nestor Duran guided OSC Is On Fire (APHA) to his third place finish. The two-year-old son of Highest Fire has one second and one third from two starts with $23,643 in the bank.

Wade and Susan Leggett bred Osc Is On Fire in Oklahoma out of Cl Oooh Sexy Lips by Jess Lips. Trainer Juan Diaz Jr conditioned the sorrel colt for owner Rogelio Sandoval.

Running out the order of finish is Toll Road, Vesper Martini, Rf Livies Buckshot, Wf Apolitical Bullet, Handsomer, Og Nikki Sixx and Livewire Honey.
