Gate-To-Wire Victory For Turbulent Kisses In The $35,000 Mike Hasting Memorial Stakes

PHOENIX, AZ– MARCH 18, 2024–After breaking his multiple stakes win streak earlier last month in the Wayne Brasher Memorial Stakes with a third place finish, Turbulent Kisses steps back into the winner's circle of the $35,000 Mike Hastings Memorial Stakes at Turf Paradise on Monday afternoon.

Ridden by Luis Valenzuela, Turbulent Kisses lead the field of eleven from gate-to-wire by a length the entire 350-yard trip. The son of Turbulent Times clocked a 101 speed index in :17.430 seconds. The victory paid $9.20 to win on 7/2 odds.

The $20,650 winner's share of the purse increased Turbulent Kisses' total career earnings to $101,836. The six-year-old gelding has lit the board 17 of 20 starts with seven career wins and three were in stakes competion.

Turbulent Kisses has won his three of last four races he's competed in. He only ran once in 2023 winning the Allred Brothers Stakes and in December of 2022 he won the Dashing All The Way Stakes.

Jose de Jesus Ubario bred Turbulent Kisses in California out of the Toast To Dash mare Kisses Calientes. Trainer Heraclio Botello saddled the brown gelding for owner Francisco Ayon.

Holiday Train, with Kevin Carbajal in the irons, place second adding $6,650 to his bankroll for a total of $31,702. The son of Freighttrain B has three career wins and is trained by Jesus Olivas-Valenzuela.

Breeder Winston Landry of Louisiana sold Holiday Train for $4,200 in the 2020 LQHBA Yearling Sale. The five-year-old gelding out of Holiday Credit by Stoli is owned by Juan Carlos Serrano.

Mister Bigg, guided by Jacob Enriquez, placed third a neck behind Holiday Train. The five-time winner has $98,227 in career earnings and two stakes victories, including the Desert Classic Derby and Arizona Downs Derby.

Bred in South Dakota by Webb Ranch, Mister Bigg was a $17,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate in 2020. Currently owned by Diego Creus, the five-year-old gelding is out of Sandys Jess by Jesse James Jr. He was also conditioned by Heraclio Botello.

La Panama West, Regalo Coronados, Go Seis Jr, Dangerous Dude, Bh Free Drop Billy, Ducheck Jqm and Messanger round out the order of finish.
