HOBBS, NM—NOVEMBER 26, 2023–Post time favorite Jess Have One More was a gate-to-wire winner in the $50,000 New Mexico Classic Quarter Horse Juvenile Sunday afternoon at Zia Park.
Under jockey Luis Martinez Jess Have One More defeated Royal Post by a head while completing the 350 yards in :17.150 seconds, equaling a 109 speed index with a 5 mph tailwind.
It was the third win in 10 starts this season for the 2-year-old son of leading New Mexico sire Jesse James Jr.

Jesus Rondan, Jr., trains the $50,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale graduate for owner CHR Racing. MJ Farms bred the brown gelding from the Stel Corona mare Wish You Had One To. The $30,000 winner's purse boosted Jess Have One More's earnings total to $130,916. He was third in the New Mexico Breeders Futurity (RG3) last summer.
Royal Post, a daughter of leading second-crop sire Eye Am King, earned $10,000 for finishing second. Jimmy Collier trains the brown filly for owners Richard Ford and Fred Sorenson. MJ Farms bred Royal Post from the Big Daddy Cartel mare Bigg Alice. Still a maiden from five starts, Royal Post has earned $20,520.
Over Da Edge, another MJ Farms bred daughter of Eye Am King, finished 1-1/4 lengths back to earn $5,000 for third. Eric Valenzuela trains Over Da Edge for owners Miguel Gallegos and Mauricio Gallegos. Sergio Becerra, Jr. rode the filly out of Da Edge by Separatist. Third in the Mountain Top QH Futurity(RG2) last summer, she has earned $57,002.
Jm Special Ryon, Jetting Thru Clouds, M Eye Six, Ima Rare Patriot, Whiskey Whiskey and Merlene completed the field.
