Js Apollitical Chick Fastest from Speedhorse Paint and Appaloosa Championship Trials

CLAREMORE, OK–OCTOBER 22, 2023–After two trials on Sunday at Will Rogers, Js Apollitical Chick was the fastest qualifier to the $50,000-estimated Speedhorse Paint and Appaloosa Championship.

Js Apollitical Chick ($5.20) posted the fastest time of :20.005 as the winner of the first 400-yard trial and earned a 91 speed index.

The winning jockey, Roman Cruz, swept the first three races of the day, including the $15,800 Sequoyah Stakes in the first race and the second trial to the Paint and Appaloosa Championship aboard second fastest qualifier Js Quick Chili.

Trainer Dee Keener and owner and breeder Shirley Wheeler brought the three fastest qualifiers to the track. Js Apollitical Chick is an Oklahoma-bred Paint gelding by Mr Apollitical Dash and out of the multiple stakes winning mare Imachickenkicker, by Dos Poruno.

Js Apollitical Chick is three for nine lifetime and has earned $18,922. He won his trial and qualified to the Pot O Gold Futurity at Will Rogers this fall, and was fourth in the Speedhorse Paint and Appaloosa Futurity (G1) at Fair Meadows in July.

Js Quick Chili ($20.40) flew from the outside to win the second trial in :20.067 with a 90 speed index. The 1 ¼-length win was amild upset over post-time favorite Storms Livewire in second place.

Js Quick Chili is a Paint daughter of Sf Royal Quick Flash, out of Texas Chili, by Texas Six. She is two for seven lifetime with $23,276 earned.

Js Successful Chicken finished second in the first trial behind Js Apollitical Chick as the third fastest qualifier in :20.110. Edwin Escobedo was in the irons.

Js Successful Chicken has one win and $16,472 from nine career starts. The Paint filly is by Crm Livewire and is out of Cartel Chicken, by Cartel Success.
