Mound Valley Glock Surprises at 20-1 In $164,800 Rock Spring Wyoming Bred Futurity

ROCK SPRINGS, WY–SEPTEMBER 30, 2023–At odds of 20-1 Mound Valley Glock got the nod for the win in the $164,800 Rock Spring Wyoming Bred Futurity at Sweetwater Downs Saturday afternoon.

Under jockey Jesus Virgen Mound Valley Glock raced over the 300 yards in :15.350 seconds, equaling a 105 speed index into a 13 mph crosswind. The margins were so closed the top four finishers were each also awarded a speed index of 105.

The son of multiple stakes sire Glock, racing for owner-breeders Andrea and Eddie Jensen, returned $42.00 to win, $11.40 to place in the $6.40 show.  The $65,920 winner's purse boosted his 2023 bankroll to $76,071.

Tony Hyde saddled the Wyoming homebred from the FDD Dynasty mare Chasin Streamers to his fourth win in six starts this season.

Runner-up Vvr Dianas Angel finished a nose back to earn $32,640 for second-place. Trainer Jorge Garfias named jockey Oscar Cervantes to ride the Whata Corona Runner colt for owner Triple G Racing LLC. Mike Lipp bred the $45,760 earner from the Spit Curl Jess mare Princess Elsa.

Another nose back, Pro Mona took home $16,480 for third. Owner-trainer and breeder Mike Hillstead saddled the Dustin Pro filly out of Monakura Sr by Walk Thru Fire. Kody Kellenberger had the riding call.

Cantinera, Jets Eyes, Pappas Fame, Pappas Western Fame, Vvr Easyonthelipps, Kdb Dynasty and Lt Gun Runner completed the field.
