Foxy Cowgirl Remains Undefeated After Winning The $165,880 Jim Bader Futurity

ALTOONA, IA–SEPTEMBER 29, 2023–From her first year on the track, Foxy Cowgirl makes her third consecutive trip to the winner's circle at Prairie Meadows after scoring the win in the $165,880 Jim Bader Futurity on Saturday.

Foxy Cowgirl broke her maiden at Prairie Meadows in July, then returned on September 9th to win her trial heat to the Jim Bader and now for a third time in the finals. Jockey Edwin Escobedo guided the daughter of #1 leading freshman sire Flying Cowboy 123 to her neck victory over Ab Boogie in the 350-yard Futurity.

After starting in third place, Foxy Cowgirl dug in and clocked a 100 speed index in :17.460 seconds for the victory which paid $9.20 to win on 4-1 odds. The $74,646 winner's check increased her earnings to $91,690.

Christine Hovey bred Foxy Cowgirl in Iowa out of Foxy Millie by Valiant Hero. Edward Ross Hardy saddled the sorrel filly for owners Paul Luedemann, Corey Wilmes and Xcel Farms.

Fastest qualifier from the trials Ab Boogie, ridden by Alfredo Triana Jr, led the field out of the gates to the final stretch but just missed at the wire for second. The Manuel Campos trained gelding has one win from four starts and $10,454 in the bank.

Bred and owned by Ruben Monica, Ab Boogie is out of Boogie Wagon by Lil Kool Wagon. The bay gelding's sire is Apollitical Blood.

Cowboy 123 placed third a nose behind Ab Boogie under the guidance of jockey Berkley Packer. The son of Flying Cowboy 123 has lit the board in every out from three starts with one win and $25,984 in earnings. The Iowa bred gelding placed second in the Hawkeye Futurity in July.

Trainer Alex Wessels saddled Cowboy 123 for owner Stephen Moyle. Bred by Paragon Farms, LLC, the sorrel gelding is out of Corona Carmelita by Corona Cartel.

Five Bar Phi, Kool Lil Wink, Magic King Feet, Summerhill Express, Ts Buy Me A Corona, Queens Grace and Got To The Wood round out the order of finish.
