CLAREMORE, OK–NOVEMBER 15, 2022–The last two races on the card for Will Rogers Downs' meet wrap up Tuesday afternoon were for Paints & Appaloosas. The first of the last two stakes races was the $16,800 Don Drake Memorial Stakes won by Rp Reckless Wire, a three-year-old paint horse.

Ridden by Cody Wainscott, Rp Reckless Wire shot out of the gates ahead the pack but quickly handed over that lead to post-time favorite Js Runnin Wire at first call. The determined filly dueled her way back to the top at final call crossing the wire a neck ahead of Js Runnin Wire and his pilot Gonzalo Gutierrez.

Rp Reckless Wire clocked a 95 speed index in :17.706 seconds with a 10 mph crosswind in the 350-yard stakes race. With nearly 4-1 odds at post-time, the slight upset paid $11.40 to win on a $2.00 wager.

The Don Drake Memorial Stakes is the second stakes win of the season for Rp Reckless Wire, including the PSBA American Paint Classic Derby-G1 at Remington Park in May. The APHA champion has lit the board 16 of 18 starts with 6 wins and $135,990 in lifetime earnings.
