HOBBS, NM–OCTOBER 30, 2022–The $125,000 Namehimastreaker New Mexico Classic Quarter Horse Championship (G1) was the second race on the card for Sundays Stakes Bonanza at Zia Park. No Mires A La Luna was the horse twho took home the trophy.

Leading the pack nearly the entire stretch, post-time favorite Hs Paul Walker crossed the wire of the 440-yard stakes race first but was disqualified to fourth due interference at the start. The horses following to claim 1-2-3 were a close finish at the wire. 

Ridden by Noe Garcia, Jr., No Mires A La Luna moved up from second to first crossing the wire in :21.903 seconds with a 94 speed index. With 4-1 odds at the post, the son of First Moonflash's victory paid $12.20 to win. 

No Mires A La Luna's steadily gained ground and was no match for the rest of the competition, crossing the wire a neck ahead. Bigg Dee, piloted by Mario Delgado moved up to second crossing the wire only a nose ahead of Don Chuy C and Luis Flores-Garcia who claimed third.

Trained by Ebert Munoz , No Mires A La Luna is no stranger to the winner's circle. The six-year-old gelding has eight career wins with six of them being stakes victories, including the First Moonflash Maturity (G2) last month. The $73,200 winner's share of this recent victory ups his career earnings to 658,805.

Bred and owned by Byron Woodard, No Mires A La Luna is out of the Genuine Strawfly mare Dont Looke Ethel, who is a half-sister to the dam of champion PJ Chickk In Black.

In a photo finish for second and third, five-time stakes winner Bigg Dee placed prevailed by a nose over Don Chuy C. Saddled by trainer JJ Gonzales, III, the son of Big Daddy Cartel has lit the board 19 times from 22 starts with 10 career wins and $502,304 in earnings. 

Breeder MJ Farms sold Bigg Dee to his owner Red Wells for $30,000 in the 2019 Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Yearling Sale. The four-year-old gelding is out of Miss Woody Dee by Woodbridge.

Don Chuy C broke first from the gates but was bumped hard by Hs Paul Walker at the start breaking his stride for a third place finish. Conditioned by Jaime Aldavaz Sr., the son of First Moonflash won last year's Namehimastreaker NM Classic Championship (G1). The five-year-horse has four career wins with $245,900 in the bank.

Bred by Mike Abraham, Don Chuy C was sold in the 2018 Ruidoso New Mexico Bred Yearling Sale for $10,000. Jesus Carrasco is the current owner of the the New Mexico bred horse out of the Spit Curl Jess mare Jess Say Bye Bye

Completing the order of finish is Hs Paul Walker, Fly On Downs, Hs Hawk, Dragon On Ice, Man Of Faith and Spiritonthemountain.
