Mini Secret Top Qualifier For Mile High Futurity at Arapahoe Park

AURORA, CO—SEPTEMBER 15, 2021—Mini Secret, under jockey Jhaciel Soto, got away best and defeated Cherry Creek Futurity winner Flare For Royalty by half-a-length to set the fastest qualifying time Wednesday for the $75,000-est. Mile High Futurity at Arapahoe Park.

The 10 fastest qualifiers will return Saturday, October 2nd to vie for the winner's share of the purse going 400 yards.

Racing for owner Green D Ranch LLC, Mini Secret got her first win in three starts while completing the 400 yards in :20.080 seconds, a 92 speed index with a 6 mph tailwind, the fastest from three trial races.

Jose C. Aguilera trains the Oklahoma-bred son of champion Heza Our Secret from the Carters Cartel mare Mini Mink. Flag Ranch LLC bred the $15,000 Heritage Place Yearling Sale graduate.

Flare For Royalty, a Colorado-bred son of first-crop sire Flare For Ivory, broke out and drifted in under champion jockey James Flores to get the third fastest clocking of :20.143, a 90 speed index.

Trained by Jose Barron and owned by Hugo Barron-Sierra, the brown gelding won the Cherry Creek Futurity last month and banked $36,792. Jerry and Shanon Fizer bred Flare For Royalty from the A Classic Dash mare Royalclassic Express.

Kali K was a neck winner in the second trial to get the second fastest time of :20.135 seconds, a 90 speed index with a 6 mph tailwind. Trainer Alexander Orozco named Jose Lopez to ride the daughter of leading second-crop sire One Fabulous Eagle. Luis Marquez paid $3,500 in the Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale for the brown filly. Darling Farms bred Kali K from the No Secrets Here mare A Secret Episode. She is undefeated in three starts at Arapahoe and has earned $14,760.

Arapahoe Park in Aurora, Colorado, began its 32-day live race meet on August 11. Friday (Aug 13) 7-race race card will include two trials (Race 1 and 2) for the Lucille Rowe Derby for accredited Colorado-bred 3-year-olds. First post is noon (MDT).
