OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—FEBRUARY 20, 2020—Ferarri Tyme was the fastest 2-year-old American Quarter Horse of the day in Remington Park training races on Thursday, Feb. 20. However, he was not the fastest of the day as a 2-year-old Paint and 3-year-old Quarter Horse managed to share that honor.

Ferarri Tyme covered 250 yards in race six in 13.662 seconds for a speed index of 74 with jockey Cristian Esqueda in the saddle for owner/trainer Leonardo Alcala. This 2-year-old colt by Freighttrain B, out of the Mr Jess Perry mare Ferarri Fast Prize, won under wraps by 1-¼ lengths.

Alcala purchased the half-brother to Grade 3 winner Ferrari James, Grade 1 placed Ferrari GT and RG2-placed V Power for $13,000 from his breeder Weetona Stanley at the 2019 Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale. The second dam is Heritage Place Futurity(G1) winner Fast First Prize, a sister to leading sire Heza Fast Dash.

Cuz Eyema Livewire was the Paint that stopped the timer in 13.656 seconds for a 74 speed index in race three. That was the exact time as a 3-year-old Quarter Horse in the seventh and final race of the day, Like A Freight Train. Reuben Castro rode Cuz Eyema Livewire for trainer Carlos Ruiz and owner Gary L. Henseley. Jorge Torres rode Like A Freight Train for trainer Stacey Charette-Hill.

  • Race 1: High Plains Secret (:13.852, 66 speed index, Clint Crawford, owner Aldai Transport)
  • Race 2: Eye Work For You (:13.922, 64, Marco Carrizales, Jose Guzman)
  • Race 4: Esperanza Now (:14.112, 56, owner/trainer Leonardo Alcala)
  • Race 5: Nonsense On Corona (:13.727, 71, Mike Robbins, Reliance Ranches LLC)

The seven training races Thursday at Remington Park were conducted under cloudy skies with temperatures in the mid-30s. A northerly tailwind between 16-19mph helped the horses throughout the session.
