Zoomn On Bye Upset Winner of $61,182 Alberta Bred Futurity at Century Downs

ROCKY VIEW, AB —SEPTEMBER 15, 2019—Zoomn On Bye broke his maiden and scored his first career stakes win in the $61,182 Alberta Bred Futurity, the first race of the Sunday afternoon card at Century Downs.

Zoomn On Bye ($54.40) was ridden by Martin Ortiz for trainer Allen Goodsell and owner Thomas Pick. The final time for the 350-yard race was 17.761; Zoomn On Bye earned a 74 speed index.

Zoomn On Bye was the eighth fastest qualifier to the futurity and finished third in his trial from August 31. In the final, he broke midpack and gained ground to win by a neck over Suits, who won their trial.

The race was the first win for the gelding in four career starts, and he has only finished out of the money once, in his career debut at Century in a trial for the Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity. With Sunday’s stake win, he now has $22,046 in earnings.

Zoomn On Bye is a 2-year-old gelding by Mezoomn, out of Eyesa Chickin it Out, by Eyesa Special; he was bred in Alberta by Shady Lane Stables.

Second-place finisher Suits defeated Zoomn On Bye in their trial as the third overall fastest qualifier. Ceasar Cervantes was aboard for the trial and final for Wesley Oulton, who trains, owns and bred the gelding in Alberta. Suits is by First Timber and is out of Burners Beauty, by El Rey Burner.

In addition to the trial win, Suits also won his trial to the Alberta Stallion Stakes Futurity in June. He qualified for the final and finished second; he also qualified for the Evergreen Park Juvenile Challenge in Grande Prairie.

Suits has two wins in nine starts with $20,527 in earnings.

Third place finisher Quarter Sawn is also trained and owned by Wesley Oulton; he was ridden by Adrain Gonzalez. Quarter Sawn was bred by Eaves Horses Family Ltd Partnership, by First Timber and out of the Separatist mare Starlite Delight.

Quarter Sawn won his trial and was the seventh fastest qualifier.

Completing the field were Timbergold, Sasses Loki, Chinook Cartel, Rolling Timber, Separate Xpress, Poutn and Streakin and Allthespeedyouneed.
