Getit Hot Earns First Stakes Victory in All Canadian Derby at Lethbridge

LETHBRIDGE, AB—UNE 8, 2019—Getit Hot gained an early lead and extended it into a clear victory in the $11,720 All Canadian Derby (not black-type) at Lethbridge on Saturday afternoon.

It was the fourth career win for the Walk Thru Fire filly but it was her first win in a stakes race. She and Ricardo Moreno covered 350 yards in 17.679 and earned a 102 speed index.

Getit Hot ($5.70) is trained by William Leech for owner Charles Stojan. She was bred in California by Martha Wells, out of the Separatist mare Getit Together.

Getit Hot made her first start outside of Los Alamitos in Saturday’s stakes race. She was claimed three starts back and has won both races since the claim for her new barn. She is now four for eight lifetime with career earnings of $21,141.

Ifarm, the post-time favorite, finished a length behind Getit Hot but cleared the rest of the field by over a length. The Coronado Cartel gelding was ridden by Jose Rocha for owners Beverly and Buckey Stockwell; Buckey Stockwell also trains.

Ifarm was bred by Donald and Peggy Boyle in Oregon out of Avery Hope, by Mr Eye Opener. He is still a maiden after ten starts, which include three stakes appearances, and he has only missed the board once in five attempts this year.

Always Right emerged from the rest of the pack to take third place by a neck with Dwight Lewis aboard. It was the first start of the year for the Stel Corona filly, who won two races as a 2-year-old and qualified for the Canadian Quarter Horse Cup Futurity.

Always Right is owned by Charles Stojan and was bred in California by Ed Allred, out of Hard Lining, by Hawkish.

Completing the field were Jb Runaway, Chasin Harm, Heza Southern Cartel, Royale Special and Fdd Thru Runnin.
