AURORA, CO—JUNE 30, 2018—The second-longest shot on the board, Perkin Desire, was the surprise winner of the feature race at Arapahoe on Saturday, the $15,000 Leo Beau Dash. Perkin Desire, with Cerapio Figueroa, posted a time of 18.852 and a speed index of 94 for the 400-yard event.

Perkin Desire ($27.60) is a 4-year-old daughter of Desirio, trained and owned by Roberto Gomez. She was bred in Colorado by Randall and Kasey Hund, out of Fols Perky Cat, by Dash For Perks.

This was the fourth career win for Perkin Desire but it was her first stakes victory. She is now four for 14 with $29,810 earned to date. Most of her stakes appearances have been at Arapahoe, though in 2016, she qualified for the Prairie Meadows Juvenile Challenge final.

A neck behind Perkin Desire in the field of Colorado-bred 3-year-olds and up was Sk Duck Dynasty and Alfredo Triana, Jr. Sk Duck Dynasty is a 5-year-old gelding trained by Manuel Chavez.

George Seward and Mason King bred and own the son of FDD Dynasty, who is out of the Maudlin mare Sentimentalromance.

Lightly raced until his 4-year-old season, Sk Duck Dynasty has also campaigned at Los Alamitos and on the Wyoming circuit, and won the $31,050 89 and Under Stakes at Energy Downs last September.

Multiple stakes placed Too Long Kissin completed the trifecta for owner and trainer Jorge Nava; Ruben Castro had the call. Too Long Kissin was bred in Colorado by Vaughn and Jill Cook, by Stel Corona, out of Kiptys First Kiss, by First Down Dash.

The 4-year-old filly was bumped at the start but finished a half-length behind Sk Duck Dynasty at the wire. She was third in the $106,875 Western States Breeders Futurity in Casper in 2016.

Completing the field were A Tac Man, Go Streak Lightning and Toshi Yoshi.
