World champions One Famous Secret and Time For Jesse Lee pull to the win.

QUARTER RACING JOURNAL—APRIL 6, 2018— Rookie driver Logan Gibson, 19, drove One Famous Secret and Time For Jesse Lee to the world chariot championship for repeat championship team Gibson & Wright.

The five-day World Championship Cutter & Chariot Racing Association meet was March 17-18 and 23-25 at the Weber County Fairgrounds in Ogden, Utah.

"Oh, man, it’s awesome!" exclaimed Logan. "It’s something I’ve dreamed of ever since I was a little kid."

One Famous Secret and Time For Jesse Lee race for the team of Gregg Gibson and Steve Wright of the Wasatch Slopes chariot association, who were taking their second consecutive world title.

Clocking :21.99 over an off track, Gibson’s son was at the lines as his horses in the trophy dash scored by a length over Jenson, Ropelato & Padgett of the Skyline club and OK Boys of Western Wyoming, the same teams that finished second and third last year.

This was the second overall world title for Gibson & Wright.

"I quit running in 2003," Gregg said. "That was the last year I ran a team and my son was 4 years old and was too young to remember it. But Logan was going out to the races all the time and I wanted him to have a chance at it. Logan’s pretty lucky to have that kind of horsepower thrown at him, but he used it right, he drove them right, and he made the most of it. He did his part and did it right."

An 8-year-old stakes-winning gelding by champion One Famous Eagle, One Famous Secret earned $45,582 in three seasons on the flat track, where he won five of 24 races. The gelding was bred by Burnett Ranches LLC.

One Famous Secret was teamed with a stakes-winning earner of $198,820 who won 18 of 43 races in five seasons on the flat track. Time For Jesse Lee is a black 7-year-old gelding by Mr Jesse Lee out of the stakes-placed Mescallero Chick mare Time For Noble. Time For Jesse Lee is owned by his breeder, Jim Walker of Bellevue, Idaho.

This was the first season that the two horses had raced together.
