Otimberimfallninlove Surprises in Lethbridge Sport of Speed Sale Futurity

LETHBRIDGE, AB—JUNE 18, 2017—Though both hit the board, it was neither the fastest qualifier nor the post-time favorite who hit the wire first in the $32,090 Sport of Speed Sale Futurity at Lethbridge. Otimberimfallninlove, the second longest shot in the field, defeated fellow 2-year-old Alberta-breds by a neck on Sunday.

Jockey Scott Sterr brought home the First Timber filly in 16.047 for the 300-yard feature race. Otimberimfallninlove is trained by Donalda Cochrane and owned by Billie Bird. She was bred by Wesley Oulton, out of the El Rey Burner mare Burners Beauty.

Otimberimfallninlove paid $20.10 to win.

Owned by Doug Graham, Shawnee Cartel is trained by Buckey Stockwell, who also bred the gelding in Alberta. Shawnee Carter is out of Shawnee Royale, by Royal Quick Dash.

Fastest qualifier Mighty Lucille and jockey J. B. Botello finished a head behind in third place. The filly is owned and bred by Jeffery Wilson and trained by Allen Goodsell. Mighty Lucille won her trial by a length on June 3, defeating both The Western Special and Otimberinfallninlove.

Mighty Lucille is by Mighty B Valiant, out of the Check Him Out mare Tanya Turner. She has run no worse than third in her three lifetime starts.

Completing the field were Jb Uni, Bs Playing for Keeps, Llomars Dream and Shezasparklingtimber. The Western Special was scratched.
