ROCK SPRINGS, WY—AUGUST 28, 2016—Multiple stakes winner My Tuff Moon won the last of three trials, on Sunday for the 89 & Under Allowance at Sweetwater Downs, while setting the fastest qualifying time.
The 10 fastest qualifiers, from the three trial races contested for 3-year-olds & up who had not earned a 90 speed index or higher as January 1, will travel to the Central Wyoming Fair in Casper on Sunday, September 11th to vie for the winner's share of the $15,000-added purse going 350 yards.
Winner of last year's Bucky Horse Sale Futurity and the Mixed Breed Spring Championship Stakes in July, My Tuff Moon raced over the 350 yards in :17.577 seconds to earn a 94 speed index and get the top qualifying mark.
Cody House had the riding call on the homebred son of Jess My Moon for owner/breeder Ralph Young and trainer David Greene. My Tough Moon has compiled a (8) 5-0-1 record and earned $14,262. He is out of the Looking For Chicks mare Furious Chick.
Stepping up from a $10,000 claiming tag at Arapahoe Park in July, Kocodrilo Cartel held on to win the first trial by a nose and post the second fastest clocking of :17.618 seconds, a 92 speed index. Juan Pulido rode the Carters Cartel gelding for owner Jaime Proa and trainer Julio Corral.
Bred in Utah by Brad Hart, from the Chicks Beduino mare Paddy Chick, Kocodrilo Cartel was a finalist in the Mile High Futurity at Arapahoe in 2014. He has compiled an (11) 2-0-3 record and earned $19,343.
Kathys Star Teller was second in the first trial, but was placed fifth for interference. She ended with the 10th qualifying mark after getting an adjusted time of :17.760 seconds.
