WInners Blackgold Wins Beehive Futurity, Laurel Browns Stakes Finals Are Held Wednesday

SOUTH JORDAN, UT—MAY 14, 2015—Laurel Brown Track's Saturday race card, which included four stakes races and was cancelled due to inclement weather conditions, was conducted Wednesday (May 13).

Beehive Futurity

A and C Racing and Roping's Winners Blackgold scored her second win in three starts with a neck victory over fastest qualifier and stablemate Winners Cool Chick in the $47,190 Beehive Futurity on Wednesday at Laurel Brown Track. No Secret Sister finished two lengths back in the show position.

Saddled by Chancey Spencer and ridden by jockey Eddie Garcia, the Winners Version gelding completed the 300 yards in :15.600 seconds to pickup the winner's purse of $16,516. Bred in New Mexico by Chad Richard, from the Genuine Strawfly mare Blackgold Playgirl, Winners Blackgold has now earned $17,622.

Winners Cool Chick, also a Chad Richard New Mexico-bred son of multiple stakes sire Winners Version, entered the race with one win in one start and the fastest time form the April 25th trials. Also trained by Spencer, Winners Cool Chick was ridden by Tyson Lusk. He earned $7,078 for the effort. He is out of the Feature Mr Jess mare Feature Cool Chick.

Martha Maldonado saddled No Secrets Sister for owner Pedro Mena. C M Quarter Horses., LLC is the breeder. Ridden by Jose Guzman, the daughter of All American Futurity winner No Secrets Here earned $4,720 for her effort. The Wyoming-bred is out of the Bono Jazz mare Be A Sister.

Tacasina, Otta Be A Price, A Good Move, Elite Eight, Rgr Secret Illusion, Game On Cool Dude and First Prize Lane completed the field.

SVLAC Futurity

Birrell Farms' homebred Bf Fooserageous ran off to a 1¼-length victory in the $22,833 SVLAC Futurity. Favorite Hat was second, two lengths ahead of Zoose.

Conditioned by Riley Moosman and ridden by Uriel Dominguez, the Foose filly completed the 330 yards in :16.811 seconds. The $7,993 winner's purse booster her earnings to $8,343 with a perfect 2-for-2 record. She is out of the Proudest Effort mare Bf Outrageous.

Favorite Hat, a colt by first crop sire Favorite Cartel from the Strawfly Special mare Hat D Strawfly, races for owner Aron Saenz and trainer Jorge Garfias. Ridden by Jesus Valenzuela, the brown colt earned $3,425.

Zoose, another Foose 2-year-old, is a homebred racing for Tom Peterson. Eddie Garcia had the riding call for trainer Riley Moosman. Out of the Separatist mare Nuturist, the Utah-bred picked up $2,283 for third place.

RGR Firstdowns Blake and RGR First To Fire completed the field. Sufinthecurl, Laceys Js Little Sis, Lp Miracle Man, Pay The Price and Ann Cartel were all scratched.

Open Derby

Fastest qualifier Five Bar Sassy returned Wednesday to defeat Gunnin For Doe by one-length in the $12,598 Open Derby at Laurel Brown Track. Laceys Firstwrangler finished a neck back in the show position.

Ridden by Uriel Dominguez for trainer Riley Moosman, the Hard Hitting filly covered the 350 yard course in :17.671 seconds. It was the second career stakes victory for the black filly and the $4,410 winner's purse boosted her career total to $28,355. Five Bar Sassy races for owner Samuel Barker and as bred in Utah by The Five Barkers, Inc. She is out of the Stoli mare Five Bar Fly.

Alvaro Torres saddled Gunnin For Doe to his second place finish for owner/breeder Steve Berry. Oscar Cervantes rode the FDD Dynasty gelding out of Bundle Doe, by Hennessy (TB). Also a stakes winner last year, Gunnin For Doe added $1,890 to bring his bankroll to more than $29,000.

Laceys Firstwranger is a homebred son of First Wrangler racing for owner/breeder Hugo Villar and Loren Eggert. Rene Lopez had the riding assignment for trainer Ron Moosman. Out of the Lanes Leinster mare Rnl Lacey Lane, the gelding earned $1,260.

Winners For You, Boundtobeadragqueen, Lil Shameless Sage, Makin Snow, James And Company and Rnl Make An Exit completed the field.
