LOS ALAMITOS, CA— APRIL 17, 2015—Charles Treece has enjoyed his time training for the partnership of Linda Cannon, Cindy Davidson, Laurie Marine, and several other syndicate members. The partners have campaigned some outstanding horses over the years, starting with Governor’s Cup Futurity and PCQHRA Breeders Futurity finalist Bikers Bono followed by Governor’s Cup Futurity and Derby winner Hard Hitting, and recently California Breeders Freshman Stakes winner Stel Hawk.
Treece and the partners appear to have a couple of more nice runners in their stable, headed by maiden winner Romantic Fire, a Walk Thru Fire gelding which posted a mild upset over a strong field on Friday night at Los Alamitos.
Bred by Ed Allred, Romantic Fire is the son of the 13-year-old mare Romanticist, a winner of five races during her 26-race career. Romanticist won the 2007 Florentine Handicap and was second in two other stakes races at Los Alamitos.
Kiddy Up has given Allred many reasons to be excited about his future in the breeding shed and Joyous is another good example of his siring prowess. Racing from along the rail, Joyous covered the 300 yards in :15.994 with Carlos Huerta in the irons.
Juan Aleman’s Flashy Big won the seventh race of the night on Friday against a field of juveniles that included S-Quarter K’s Ima Fearless Hero, a half-brother of 2014 champion 2-year-old gelding Heza Dasha Fire. The Allred-bred son of TR Dasher won the 300-yard race by 1-Ľ lengths with Cesar De Alba up. Flashy Big covered the distance in :15.684 with Ima Fearless Hero crossing the wire as the solid runner-up.
Flashy Big was a 1-2 favorite in this event after posting a pair of impressive drills during morning workout. His winning effort lived up to the expectations with track announcer Ed Burgart calling him “the real deal” after he crossed the finish line well ahead of the field.
