SUNLAND PARK, NM—DECEMBER 28, 2014—A New Mexico-bred got the biggest win of his career Sunday afternoon when Rcj Major Storm held off Hes Relentless and Stimulus by a neck and a nose to capture the $350,000 Championship at Sunland Park(G1).
Under jockey Jesse Levario, the Brookstone Bay horse went wire-to-wire down the inside rail to score his fifth win in 10 starts this season. He covered the 440 yards in :19.140 seconds, a 93 speed index. The $157,000 winner's purse boosted his career total to $515,779 and put's him as a top contender for 2014 AQHA Racing Championship honors.
"He started running real good this fall," owner-trainer Alfredo Sanchez said following the race.
The trainer was referring to the bay's current win streak that begin October 26th with a victory in the $181,480 Namehisastreak New Mexico Classic Championship at Zia Park and continued earlier this month with a half-length score against state-breds in the $85,000 Jess Burner Memorial Handicap at Sunland Park.
His career record stands at (31) 9-7-1, with five of those wins and $363,722 in earnings in 2014. Sanchez indicated the 5-year-old stallion would continue to race in 2015.
R.D. Hubbard, William Maher, Tom Maher and Jonny Cope's stakes winning son of leading sire One Famous Eagle, Hes Relentless put in a gallant effort against older company for the first time in his career to earn $70,000 for second.

Stimulus capped off the best season of his 4-year-old career with the third place effort for owner/breeder Jerry Windham. The Texas-bred son of leading sire Mr Jess Perry is a half-brother to former all-time leading money earner Stolis Winner and 2014 Rainbow Futurity(G1) winner Trendi.
Out of the Runaway Winner mare Veva Jean, Stimulus has finished first or second in seven of eight starts this season. His wins included the Grade 1 Bank of America Challenge Championship, the Prairie Meadows Challenge Championship and the TQHA Classic Stakes. He earned $32,000 for Sunday's effort to push his earnings mark to $305,455. Justin Joiner saddled the gray gelding.
Riding a seven-race win streak and six stakes victories this season, post-time favorite Jrc Callas First was gaining late off the outside rail to finish a head back in fourth for owners Brian and Dana Stroud.
Completing the field were Too Flash For You, Foose Cash Sr, Testing The Ice, Jesscuzican, Bon Accord and A Toss Up.
