ANDERSON, IN—SEPTEMBER 29, 2012—Fillemup Phil defeated Lovemelikethat by a nose in the first of two trials Friday night for the Hoosier Park Classic. His time of :20.122 over the 400 yards was the quickest of the evening.
The 10 fastest will return to the Indiana racetrack on October 13 and vie for the winner's share of the $100,000-added event for 4-year-old & older Indiana-breds.
Under jockey Oscar Delgado, Fillemup Phil picked up his second win in four starts this season and pushed his total earnings mark to $214,288. Danny Lang trains the multiple stakes winning son of Brookstone Bay for Brian Gunder. Guy Trolinger bred the bay 5-year-old form the Premiership mare Miss Reminice.
Lovemelikethat held on to the second fastest time of :20.129 for owner Cooter Daniel. John McCreary trains the Likenothingyoueverysaw 4-year-old ridden by Shanley Jackson. Mark Michel bred the earner of more than $256,000 from the First Smart Money mare First Smart Stride.
Randy Thompson's homebred Air Born Leader won the second trial while setting the third fastest clocking of :21.194. Thomas Mosley, Jr. saddled the Leader Of The Class gelding to his fifth win in six starts this season. Gerardo Garrido was aboard the multiple stakes winner of $240,238. He is out of the Born Runner mare Air Born Jazz.
