Mr T Perry Takes RG3 Billy Montgomery, Eyeontheline Wins Marathon at Louisiana Downs on Saturday

BOSSIER CITY, LA—JANUARY 21, 2011—Louisiana Downs hosted the $40,000 Billy Montgomery Stakes(RG3) and $20,000 Marathon Stakes on Saturday's nine-race card.

The Billy Montgomery for accredited Louisiana-Bred 3-year-olds was contested over 350 yards and the Marathon was an 870 yard open event.

Mr T Perry Gets First Stakes Win in Billy Montgomery

Ana Alvidrez' Mr T Perry picked up his third straight win, first of the new year, Saturday afternoon by defeating Intriguing Jess Blue by neck in the $40,000 restricted grade 3 Billy Montgomery Stakes. Country Talker closed fast to finish another neck back in third.

Miguel Rodriguez saddled the son of second crop sire First Prize Perry out of the Thoroughbred mare T Storm, by Salt Lake. Under jockey J.R. Ramirez, the brown gelding completed the course in :17.777 to pickup the winner's purse of $24,000, nearly doubling his career total to $49,996.

The four-time winner bred by Chad Hart has also finished second once in seven career starts to 3.

Intriguing Jess Blue, winner of the LQHBA Breeders' Invitational at Evangeline Downs last year, races for Yadira Alvarado and is trained by Willie J. Simien, Jr. Under jockey Danny Lavergne, the Jess Louisiana Blue gelding out of Call Me Intriguing by Call Me Together, earned $8,000 for the second place Effort. Bred by J.E. Jumonville, Jr., the bay pushed his record to 2-5-0 in 10 starts and earning's mark to $48,169.

Racing for Los Primitos, Country Talker earned $4,400 for finishing third. Raul Ramirez, Jr. rode the Straight Talker gelding for trainer Miguel Rodriguez. Bred Sue Shay from the Streakin La Jolla mare Streakin Miranda, the sorrel has earned $50,415.

Completing the field were Oak Tree Corona, Run Gamie Run, Mr Sonic Boom, Mr Silver Slew Tf Eyes R Runnin and The Game Lover. Mossy Oak Tree was scratched.

Eyeontheline Impresses in Marathon Stakes

Coming off a 3 ¾ length win in his last start on December 17, Eyeontheline defeated Slinkys Fortune by one-length in the $20,000 Marathon Stakes on Saturday afternoon at Louisiana Downs.

The Eye Yin You 4-year-old picked up his first stakes win and fifth win in 10 starts under jockey Danny Lavergne. Kenny Roberts, Sr. trains the gray for Sunset Racing Stable.

Bred in Texas by William Reeder, Eyeontheline took control early, leading by as much as 2 ½ lengths while completing the 870 yard course in :46.229 seconds. The $12,000 winner's purse pushed his earnings level to more than $37,000. He is out of the Thoroughbred mare Bobbie Lou, by Barrett's Bullet.

Multiple stakes winner Slinkys Fortune earned $4,000 for owner/trainer Henry Padgett. Trevino Clark rode the 8-year-old Dashs Slinky gelding. Bred in Louisiana by Ronald Gilmer, Slinkys Fortune is a 10-time winner of $236,098. He is out of the Six Fortunes mare Chasing A Fortune.

Coming off a $7,500 Claiming victory on December 8, Dirty Boy Friend finished gamely under jockey Jeff Jerman. The 8-year-old Dirty Coup gelding picked up $2,200 for owner's Raye McMullan and Kenny Roberts, Jr. The earner of more than $56,000 is trained by Kenny Roberts, Sr.

Zay Zay who was in tight and steadied in the turn was disqualified from fourth to fifth. Dr. Drip was placed fourth and Dangerous Guns finished last. Direct Zack Attack and Lookinbackatdapack were both scratched.
