GRAND PRAIRIE, TX–SEPTEMBER 28, 2023–Pete A. Scarmardo's Jess The Leader will put his three-race win streak on the line in Saturday's 400-yard, $50,000 B.F. Phillips Jr. Stakes (RG3) for Texas-breds at Lone Star Park.

A homebred 4-year-old son of champion Jess Louisiana Blue trained by John Stinebaugh, Jess The Leader has won three stakes this season, and he will be stretching out in distance off of his victory in the September 9, 350-yard Dr. Glenn Blodgett Stakes (R) at Lone Star Park. The bay gelding has banked $113,235 from five starts this season.

Jess The Leader drew post 3 and will be ridden by Sergio Becerra Jr.

Other contenders include Mi Cielo Ranch's Daddy Caliente and Simmons Racing's Getthere Fast. A sophomore son of Big Daddy Cartel trained by Brian Stroud, Daddy Caliente has won two state-bred stakes at Retama Park, and he will be stretching out in distance off of his clear 2 1/2-length victory in the September 1, 330-yard Silver Eagle Stakes (R).

Daddy Caliente drew post 2 and will be ridden by Claudio Aguilar.

Getthere Fast is coming off of a Ruidoso Downs summer campaign during which the 3-year-old son of champion Tempting Dash banked $68,284 from four outs and was a finalist in the sport's richest derby, the 440-yard, $1.2-million All American Derby (G1). The sorrel gelding drew the rail post and will be ridden by Bryan Candanosa for trainer Toby Keeton.
