SELMA, TX–MARCH 7, 2026–Retama Park will host its third round of schooling races on March 11, providing horsemen another opportunity to evaluate their young prospects as preparations continue for the upcoming 2026 Quarter Horse racing season.

A total of 100 two-year-olds are entered for the session, consisting of 45 fillies, 28 colts and 27 geldings, preparing for their first official starts. Schooling races allow juveniles to gain valuable experience from the starting gate and under race-like conditions before making their pari-mutuel debuts.

From a pedigree standpoint, Flying Cowboy 123 tops all sires with 12 juveniles entered in the schooling races. Other well-represented stallions include This Is An Eagle with eight, Chilitos with seven, while Rc Me Leaving You and Ivory James each have four juveniles scheduled to run.

Several barns will also be well represented as trainers begin preparing their young stock for the meet. John Stinebaugh leads all trainers with 12 two-year-olds entered, followed by Marc Jungers with 10 and Brian Stroud with nine, giving those stables sizable groups of juveniles to evaluate during the session.

Among riders, Jose Herbert leads all jockeys with 12 scheduled mounts, followed by Eddie Sanchez with 11, while Francisco Calderon and Christian Ramos each have 10 mounts. Gilberto Linares follows with nine.

Schooling races traditionally provide an early glimpse at the developing two-year-old crop, allowing owner, trainers and jockeys to evaluate gate behavior, early speed and professionalism under race-day conditions. With 100 juveniles scheduled to participate, the March 11 session should offer a strong preview of the horses that could play prominent roles during the 2026 Retama Park Quarter Horse meet.
