Fantastic Feature Jr Tops First Session of Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK—JANUARY 16, 2020—With no breakout horse or major dispersals to boost numbers, it was business as usual for a good crowd of January buyers during the opening session of the 42nd annual Heritage Place Winter Mixed Sale in Oklahoma City Thursday.

At the end of the eight-hour session Heritage Place reported 210 horses were sold for gross receipts of $2,521,034, an average price of $12,005 and an $8,000 median horses. The 33 horses that went unsold represented an RNA rate of 14%.

Comparisons with last year's first session would be misleading, since the 2019 sale was crammed into two days including the John Andreini Dispersal in the opener. Session 1 last year saw 313 horses sell for $4,038,800, an average of $12,904 and median of $8,500.

"We had an excellent sale today and a very large crowd," Heritage Place General Manager Spence Kidney said late Thursday. "The average on horses sold today was over $12,000 and 85% of the horses were marked sold."

Comparing that to 2019, and removing the John Andreini Dispersal, the average was off 1% of the result of Day 1 last year," he added. "There are two great days of horses remaining and we wish everyone best of luck on their purchases."
