CYPRESS, CA–JULY 23, 2026–There will likely be a future graded stakes finalist or two in action during Saturday’s trials to the $54,000 Los Alamitos Claiming Futurity. Over the years, Grade 2 derby winner Show N Tell Cartel, multiple stakes winner Hay Shaker, and El Primero Derby finalist Unmarked are among the top-tier runners claimed out of the Claiming Futurity final.

This year’s lineup features 22 juveniles competing across three 350-yard trials, all vying for 10 spots in the Claiming Futurity final on August 16. Under the conditions of the race, horses cannot be claimed out of the trial races; however, every runner that qualifies for the final is eligible to be claimed for $16,000.

Show N Tell Cartel stands out as one of the most successful claims from this event. After being claimed, he qualified for the 2024 Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity before winning the Grade 2 El Primero Del Ano Derby and qualifying for both the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Super Derby and Grade 2 Southern California Derby last year.

In Saturday’s opening heat, the Schvaneveldt Sisters’ Secret Express leads the field. She finished second to eventual Robert Adair Kindergarten finalist Monday Dynasty before hitting the board in three of her next five starts. Ed Allred’s Quick Enough—a runner out of distance stakes winner Miss Loujean—will also compete in the first trial.

The second trial features a trio of maiden winners: M & G Farms, Inc.’s MG Vegas Boi, Donald and Peggy Boyle’s Golden Mist, and Francisco Diaz’s Emperador D. Allred’s Irately is another primary contender in this heat, boasting two runner-up finishes and a third-place effort from four career starts.

The final trial is highlighted by two Allred-owned fillies: Shes Difficult, a daughter of Favorite Cartel out of stakes winner Tough To Figure, and Female Flyer, a Favorite Cartel filly who finished second in her career debut. JB Kool Idea and AP Royal Sweet add further depth to the heat, with both coming off runner-up performances in their most recent outings.

Overall, prominent sires Favorite Cartel, Corona Cartel, One Sweet Jess, Mpshinning, Golden Boi, Docs Best Card, Foose, Seperate Interest, A Mere Felix, Henoshersecret, Mental Error, Fly Thru The Fire, and Jess An Idea are all represented in Saturday's trials.
