EVANSTON, WY–JUNE 19, 2026–Wyoming Downs' Sunday afternoon card includes eleven races, with key highlights being the finals of the $75,000 307 HR Open QH Derby and the $50,000 307 HR Open QH Maturity. Additional stakes races, such as the $35,000 Derby Club Stakes and the $15,000 307 HR Open Sophomore, ensure there are four major races to enjoy all afternoon.

The spotlight event is the fifth race, the $75,000 307 HR Open QH Derby, where a field of nine sophomores will return from the June 6 trial heats to compete over 350 yards at approximately 2:40 p.m.

Heading the field is the fastest qualifier, Fancy Dashing Diva. The filly overcame trouble in her trial after being bumped shortly after the start, but still went on to score a three-quarter-length victory and record the fastest qualifying time. During her juvenile season, she qualified for the Sweetwater Downs Futurity and has continued to develop into a consistent stakes contender.

Owned by Renegade Racing, Fancy Dashing Diva has earned $24,651 from nine starts, including two victories. She was purchased for $14,000 at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale. The daughter of FDD Dynasty and the One Sweet Jess mare Oh So Fancy Fancy was bred in Texas by Craig Lauger. Trainer Josh Taylor will saddle her from post six, with David Alvarez Jr. named to ride.

The fourth race features the $50,000 307 HR Open QH Maturity, where ten older runners will return from the June 7 trial heats to contest 400 yards at approximately 2:15 p.m.

Leading the field is Mysterious Cartel, who enters as the fastest qualifier after winning the opening trial heat. The gelding has put together a three-race winning streak and continues to build on an impressive résumé. Among those victories was the 2025 Grade 3 AQHA Derby Challenge Championship Stakes, worth $174,000.

Owned by Luis A. Gonzalez, Mysterious Cartel has won eight races and earned $199,661 in his career. Gonzalez purchased the gelding for $31,000 at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale. Bred in Texas by J/R Robicheaux and Spanish Moss Quarter Horses, he is a son of Five Bar Cartel out of the Valiant Hero mare Mysterious Night. Adrian Zavala trains the gelding, and Cesar T. Moreno has the riding assignment.

With two major finals and a pair of supporting stakes races on the schedule, Wyoming Downs will offer one of its strongest cards of the season. The $75,000 307 HR Open QH Derby, the $50,000 307 HR Open QH Maturity, the $35,000 Derby Club Stakes, and the $15,000 307 HR Open Sophomore will provide a full afternoon of stakes competition as some of the region's top Quarter Horses compete for valuable purses and championship honors.
