ALBUQUERQUE, NM–JUNE 3, 2026–The spotlight shines brightly on Albuquerque Downs Saturday evening as one of the summer's most anticipated programs brings together the country's fastest and most talented three-year-old Quarter Horses. An eleven-race card loaded with championship-caliber talent will culminate with the Grade 1 $850,000 Ruidoso Quarter Horse Derby and the $100,000 Ruidoso Quarter Horse Invitational Stakes, where the top qualifiers from the May 24 trial heats return to battle for major purses, prestige, and a place among the elite sophomores of 2026.

The featured Grade 1 $850,000 Ruidoso Quarter Horse Derby is scheduled as the tenth race on the card at approximately 9:50 p.m., with ten of the fastest qualifiers set to sprint 400 yards for one of the richest prizes for three-year-olds this season.

Leading the field is the fastest qualifier, Gf Shes Sinful, the 3-1 morning-line favorite who stamped herself as the horse to beat with a dominant win in the fifth trial heat. The talented filly drew away impressively to post the fastest qualifying time and enters the final with four wins in five career starts. Her lone setback came in the Grade 1 Texas Classic Futurity as a juvenile, when she broke outward, encountered heavy interference, and never had the chance to show her true ability.

Owned by All In Partners, which acquired her for $50,000 at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, Gf Shes Sinful has quickly become one of the standout fillies of her generation. The daughter of Dulce Sin Tacha out of the Foose mare Bf Fooserageous was bred in Oklahoma by Kevin A. Birrell. Trainer Wesley T. Giles will send her from the rail with regular rider Noe Garcia Jr. aboard as she looks to add another major victory to her impressive résumé.

Just behind her in the morning line at 7-2 is Envestor, a gelding whose rapid rise has made him one of the division's most exciting contenders. A five-time winner in six career starts, Envestor has already proven his class by qualifying for the Grade 1 All American Futurity as a juvenile. He began his 2026 campaign with an allowance victory at Remington Park before shipping west and delivering a determined trial win by a half-length, securing his place in the Derby field.

The son of Dulce Sin Tacha and the Stoli mare And Poof Shes Gone was bred in Arkansas by Belinda Shaw and races for the partnership of Richard Young, Joe David Yates, and Zack Stinebaugh. Purchased for $28,000 at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, Envestor has delivered a tremendous return on investment. Trainer and co-owner Zack Stinebaugh will saddle the talented gelding from post eight, with Gilberto Linares returning in the irons as they chase the richest victory of his career.

The excitement begins one race earlier in the ninth, when the next ten fastest qualifiers from the trials return for the $100,000 Ruidoso Quarter Horse Invitational Stakes. Scheduled for approximately 9:25 p.m., the Invitational offers another highly competitive 400-yard contest featuring proven stakes performers and rising stars seeking to make their mark.

Heading that field is KJ Xquizit Jess, the 3-1 morning-line favorite for trainer Wesley T. Giles. The talented gelding already has a qualification for the Grade 1 All American Futurity and enters the Invitational with three wins and two runner-up finishes in six starts. With career earnings of $142,000, he has consistently competed against top-level competition and remains one of the most accomplished runners in the field.

In his trial effort, KJ Xquizit Jess showed his customary speed before settling for second, a performance many believe left plenty in reserve for the final. The son of Apollitical Jess out of the Ivory James mare Xquizit was bred in Arizona by owners John Lee and W. Kathy Lee and races for the partnership of John Lee, W. Kathy Lee, and I. Ruben Mares. Breaking from post five, he will once again be ridden by Noe Garcia Jr. as the connections look to continue their success on one of New Mexico’s biggest stages.

With nearly one million dollars in combined purses on the line, Saturday evening promises drama, speed, and excitement that have made the Ruidoso series one of Quarter Horse racing’s most prestigious traditions. From rising stars in the Invitational to elite contenders in the Grade 1 Ruidoso Quarter Horse Derby, fans and bettors will witness an unforgettable night as the sport’s brightest three-year-olds return to Albuquerque Downs in pursuit of glory.
