VINTON, LA–APRIL 8, 2026–Delta Downs is set to conduct two days of schooling races in preparation for the upcoming Old South Futurity, Laddie Futurity, and Lassie Futurity. The races will run Thursday for the fillies and Friday for the colts and geldings.

Both days will be contested at 220 yards, with first post scheduled for approximately 7:30 p.m. Entries for both days of racing can be found here.

THURSDAY, APRIL 9 SCHOOLING RACES

A total of 97 juvenile fillies are entered across 13 schooling races on Thursday, April 9, as they prepare for the Old South Futurity and Lassie Futurity.

Of those, 51 fillies sold at auction in 2025, with six surpassing the $50,000 mark. Aj Sign Of Beauty was the top seller among Thursday’s group, bringing $93,000 at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale.

Aj Sign Of Beauty will compete in the seventh race under jockey Randy Edison Jr. The daughter of Apollitical Jess is trained by David Bustamante for owners Benjamin Salazar Jr and Jesus Talavera of Jagger Horse Racing. She was bred in Oklahoma by Rancho El Cabresto Inc out of Signs Zoomer by Shazoom.

Wild Blood Fortunes, a $77,000 graduate of the LQHBA Yearling Sale, will break from the fourth race under jockey Pedro Espinosa. Trainer Kenny Roberts Sr will saddle the daughter of Apollitical Blood for owner Wild Blood Fortunes Venture. She was bred in Louisiana by Rj Ranch LLC out of Cartels Fortune by Carters Cartel.

Freighttrain B leads all sires in the fillies division with 17 runners. RC Me Leaving You, Gold Heart Eagle V, and Ivory James follow with eight each, while Apollitical Blood and Kj Mucho Macho Man each have six.

FRIDAY, APRIL 10 SCHOOLING RACES

A total of 76 colts and geldings are entered across 11 schooling races on Friday in preparation for the Old South Futurity and Laddie Futurity. Of those, 37 juveniles sold at auction, with four bringing more than $50,000.

The top seller in the group is Tren Politico, who brought $80,000 at last year’s LQHBA Yearling Sale. The son of Freighttrain B will break from the sixth race under jockey Rodrigo Vallejo. Trainer Viviane Hill will saddle the gray colt for owner Daniel Miranda. He was bred in Louisiana by Mtz & Ruse Ranch Holding LLC. out of Polittcking by Apollitical Blood.

The next top seller is Macho Man Stone, who sold for $57,000 at the LQHBA Yearling Sale and will run in race eight. The son of Kj Mucho Macho Man will be ridden by Ubaldo Luna for owner Rancho La Cobra LLC. He was bred in Louisiana by Ruse Ranch LLC  out of Kk Sandra Patriot by Game Patriot. Trainer Martin Trejo conditions the sorrel colt.

RC Me Leaving You leads all sires on Friday with 11 runners. Ivory James has seven and  Freighttrain B, One Fabulous Eagle, and Inspyre follow with four each.
