MEXICO CITY, MEX–NOVEMBER 2, 2025–A field of seven juveniles will line up on Sunday to contest the 42nd running of the $18,000 Futurity de las Americas at Hipódromo de las Américas.
Breaking from the four hole under regular rider Heriberto Camacho, is Dark Water Bay, who is the early morning-line favorite at 5-2 odds. The consistent colt has finished on the board in all six career starts, posting three victories and earning $66,500 to date.
Dark Water Bay enters Sunday’s feature on a three-race win streak, which includes two stakes victories—the Alfredo Castro Rea Classic and Jody’s Glory Classic. Earlier this season, he also finished second in both the AQHA Juvenile Challenge and The Prize Classic, solidifying his credentials as one of Mexico’s top juveniles and is currently recognized as the leading two-year-old American-bred runner in Mexico.
Trainer Antonio Garcia will saddle the Oklahoma-bred colt for owner Cuadra Alpuyeca. Bred by Mike Vaughan, Dark Water Bay was a $77,000 purchase at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale. The son of Mr Jess Perry is out of Aqua Girl, by Corona Cartel.
The second choice on the morning line at 3-1 is One Famous Temptation, who will look to upset the favorite for trainer Ramon Guerrero. The Tempting Dash colt has hit the board in three of four starts, highlighted by a victory and a third-place finish in the AQHA Juvenile Challenge.
Bred by Johnny Trotter and sold for $45,000 at the Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale, One Famous Temptation is out of One Famous Ermana, by Mr Jess Perry.
