RUIDOSO DOWNS, NM–AUGUST 27, 2025—A star-studded field of nine fillies will line up for the $702,907 All American Quarter Horse Oaks (G1), set for Monday, September 1, at The Downs at Albuquerque.
The Oaks, contested at 440 yards, features a talented group of three-year-old fillies who earned their way into the finals through fiercely competitive trials.
The first post time for the day’s card is scheduled for 12:00 p.m. (MDT), with the Oaks slated as Race 8 and an approximate post of 5:05 p.m.
Among the favorites, #6 Rainbow of Diamonds (7-2) headlines the field after a string of strong performances for Valeriano Racing Stables LLC.
Trained by Victor H. Rodriguez-Flores and ridden by Francisco Calderon, the sorrel filly by Apollitical Blood out of Cc Seis by Tres Seis has proven a model of consistency this season.
Bred in Oklahoma by Danny Joe Miller and a $22,000 Ruidoso Select Yearling Sale purchase, Rainbow Of Diamonds comes off a solid third-place finish in her Oaks trial, narrowly beaten while clocking a sharp 20.997.
Earlier this summer, she finished second in a Ruidoso trial behind Hott Temptation and was runner-up in the prestigious Heritage Place Oaks (G2) at Remington Park.
Rainbow of Diamonds will be among the top betting choices with four career wins, $188,101 in earnings, and a personal best speed index this season of 104.
Ohana Spirit (5-2), owned and bred by Gentry Farms, brings an equally impressive résumé to the Oaks. Trained by John A. Stinebaugh and piloted by Ali Rivera, the sorrel filly is by Tempting Dash and out of Heartbeat by Tres Seis.
She enters the finals off a gutsy trial win on August 6, holding off D Fawn by a neck in 21.210. Ohana Spirit has now won four of 11 starts, banking $201,442.
Earlier this year, she placed third behind Rainbow O Diamonds in a Ruidoso trial and has steadily improved with each start. Her experience over the Albuquerque surface and her 97 speed index at this distance make her a legitimate contender to secure her first Grade 1 victory. She was a finalist in the Grade 1 Los Alamitos Two Million Futurity last year.
Another strong challenger is #4 Razor Sharp (4-1), a consistent performer for owner Ronald L. Sugamosto. Trained by Eric Valenzuela and ridden by Sergio Becerra Jr., the sorrel filly by Tempting Dash out of Lady Bellaqua by Mr Jess Perry has been a model of determination this season.
Bred in Missouri by Nogal Orb LLC and purchased for $67,000 at the Heritage Place Yearling Sale, Razor Sharp delivered a powerful performance in her Oaks trial, edging Karmas a Chick by a head in 20.997, earning a speed index of 102. She owns four career wins, $129,415 in earnings, and has hit the board in nine of 11 starts. Her tactical speed and grit in tight finishes make her a dangerous presence in the gate.
With three fillies showing top-class form and versatile running styles, the 2025 All American Quarter Horse Oaks promises to be one of the most competitive renewals in recent memory.
Fans can expect a fast-paced, thrilling stretch drive when these stars break from the gate at The Downs at Albuquerque on Labor Day.
