MEXICO CITY, MEX–JUNE 6, 2025–Two days of trials to the $149,120 Garanones Futurity-RG2 will be taking place on Saturday and Sunday at the Hipodromo de las Americas, where the ten quickest qualifiers will move on to the finals set for June 29. Each day will feature seven trials, and the top five fastest times from both days will advance to the finals.

Rey De Manny is a strong contender to watch as he enters the trials on Saturday, June 7. He is the 5-2 morning-line favorite from trial four. The son of Krash Cartel will be starting from post four, with jockey Nestor Duran riding for owner Cuadra San Martin.

Rey De Manny has an undefeated record from two races, with earnings exceeding $56,000. The two-year-old gelding, trained by Ashley Cirilo, was the fastest qualifier for the Mexico Futurity-RG3 and clinched the victory in the $130,000 finals on May 4.

Abelardo Gallegos bred Rey De Manny out of the Jesse James Jr mare Jess Blazin Queen. The $43,243 Subasta Selecta Sale graduate is a full brother to 2024 Mexico Futurity champion Kin Krash, also owned by Cuadra San Martin.

On Sunday, June 8, Payasa De Manny, also owned by Cuadra San Martin, will start from the sixth hole in trial five. The daughter of Krash Cartel is also favored to win her trial heat at 5-2 early odds.

Nestor Duran will also get the riding call aboard Payasa De Manny, but under the guidance of trainer Luis Cruz. She boasts a record of 1-1-1 from three starts with nearly $19,000 in earnings. The Gallegos-bred filly is out of Coconut Crystal by Separatist.

The next fastest times, subsequent to the top five from each day, will be eligible for advancement to the $13,846 Futurity Garanones Juvenile. 13.5% of the total Futurity Garanones purse is allocated as an incentive to the stallion owners of each finalist.

Subasta Selecta Derby
Sunday evening races will conclude with four trials to the $94,172 Subasta Selecta Derby. 30 three-year-olds will vie for one of ten spots advancing into the finals, which will be held on June 22.

Dk Danny De Fuego is currently leading the sophomores heading into the 400-yard trials, with earnings exceeding $105,000. This colt, a son of the leading sire Danny Cartel, was the runner-up in last year's Garanones Futurity and finished sixth in the Subasta Selecta Futurity despite facing challenges. After a tenth-place finish in his most recent stakes race at the Mexico Derby, he will be eager to redeem himself.

Dk Danny De Fuego drew the seven hole in the last race of the night and is the 5-2 morning line favorite for trial four. Nestor Duran is the rider.

Trained by Ashley Cirilo for Cuadra San Martin, Dk Danny De Fuego has lit the board eight of ten starts with four career wins and earned Mexican champion two-year-old gelding honors in 2024. Cuadra La Presita bred him out of Bauty Fire by Walk Thru Fire.

His stablemate, Dk Torito Cartel, who has the second highest earnings in the group, will be starting from post five in trial three. The son of Danny Cartel has a record of 3-3-3 from 12 starts and $67,000 in earnings.
